Missed it mate, a funny read that.

Average Points per game was also discussed on the Sup this morning. Sadly I think that is how the league will be finished.

Would love some summer football in June or July but I just don’t see it happening. The chances of not a single player or training staff not testing positive for this must be slim.

Then without doubt it will be cancelled, and I think calculated on average points per game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No way can you go points per games played. You would be relegating three teams with 9/10 games to play. That would make a farce of the Prem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who said anything about relegation <doh•

It wouldn’t surprise me if no team was relegated, and the teams in automatic promotion spots go up.

Well that is if the season doesn’t finish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Think that is possible. However, if they promote Leeds and WBA then im pretty sure Fulham, Brentford and Forest fans would feel it was unfair. I would agree with them too. Still 9 games to go and all to play for. That's not even considering play off chances. There was a chance a team like Millwall could have gone up. Instead, we just ignore that.

People seem to be focused on the obvious and forget all the other possibilities.

So what is the point of points per game? How can you promote teams with lots of games to play? That is as bad as relegating teams with 9 games left.

Only two possible outcomes, either finish or call the season off. Pretty simple really.

posted on 26/4/20

Nah it's not that simple.

At least its a system that rewards hard work and success and is therefore better than any that rewards failure IMO.

How? Because we say so.

We make the rules. Where is it written you can't promote a team this or relegate a team that? In which scripture or statute is this written? Is it a quote by Robinson Crusoe or popeye or some other famous sailor man?

First you lay the law and then proceed to say it's impossible which makes people focus on the latter and ignore the former. Don't tell us what we can and can't do

If Covid strikes, its unprecedented and we will do what we want. If the season is voided, who will get CL football? Even then we will do what we want and give CL football to whoever we want.

By your logic no English team should be in the CL next season.

But success isn't based on 3/4s of the season. Never has been.

Why should you choose what is success with 9 games to go? Those 9 games make all the difference.

You really don't seem willing to think of other perspectives. You seem very driven on one outcome and one outcome only.

I have considered all options, assesed all and then have 2 or 3 preferred outcomes. All of which try to consider all those impacted.

I'm afraid to say, your options only point to one outcome which makes me believe your only solution to this is your team getting what you believe is right.

I think Liverpool deserve the title, but I can't currently see a way that is fair that awards them the title. You see ways that allow Liverpool the title and debate all scenarios possible that allow that to happen.

Eureka!!!!

The fairest solution is to withdraw English teams from European competition altogether, except Liverpool.

I dare anyone to disagree that this is fair. No team has earned anything mathematically. Void the season and forget it. Liverpool are everyone's second team so we should all enjoy supporting Liverpool carrying the English flag in Europe all alone.

I disagree Bake em.

The simplest approach would be to give Liverpool the title and get them out of the room with the quickness. That alone will reduce dissent by half. Then deal with CL and relegation after that.

You assume that there are rules to be followed but those rules are made up in people's heads. Its is for the teams that make up the league to sit and decide what happens to them.

They won't be strictly bound by these rules you speak of IMO and Liverpool getting the title will not mean that any proposals or possibilities are off the table like you insist.

Mate, I have engaged on conversation with you over the last few days but I have finally realised you are a WUM.

You ate making the same points I have made days ago yet using the word "eureka" as of you have been passive to it the whole time. You have one ideal outcome to this only. My solutions have had Liverpool win the league, Liverpool not. Spurs not getting CL football or any European football. Teams going up and teams not going up. Everything and everyone considered. All your solutions point to one thing only.

I just hope those in power consider all the teams and not just the one team you are solely focused on

WTF?! Why should toy be given the title but then we don't consider all other scenrarios that at likely. It's not mathematically confirmed so it shouldn't be given.

To be fair, if Liverpool are "given the title" then I think people will never see it as a pure title win. It wasnt earnt and confirmed in the same way every other title has been earnt in modern football in the country.

Honestly mate, you seem so fixed in one outcome that you don't seem willing to consider other options without it impacting your own club. That is where we differ immensely.

Technically true but jokes aside we all know that won't happen. It serves no purpose.

That's what I'm saying. Since we make the rules, shouldn't stop us having four teams in the CL because of "mathematical qualification". What will happen is what the clubs say will happen. As I said I was hoping they vote to expand the league but that's sounds like a dream now.

I have no Cl agenda as I'm not expecting it to happen next season.

As I've mentioned many times qualification for the Cl and Europa should start in July so it certainly isn't going to begin on time whatever happens.
