Spurs are often derided for when

they last won the league, but putting it into context, there are some big hitters from the past that are far worse.

This would have been accurate if you hadn't included Liverpool. All the teams you listed are worse off except Liverpool whose 30 years is half the time Spurs have gone without a title .

Perhaps you added Liverpool for perspective which is OK.

Good post.

I suppose that’s true. If you ignore the 5 league titles Chelsea have won in the last 65 years, it’s been 65 years since Chelsea won the league.

Also, if you ignore the 13 league titles Manchester United have won since 1967, it’s been 53 years since they’ve won the league. So only slightly better than Tottenham.

I don’t think it’s the league they’re derided for. It’s the lack of ANY trophies and a consistent bottling of opportunities that come knocking.

Yes - true about Liverpool and 30 yrs

But they’ve won 6 European Cup/CL titles since we won the league
So yes, an opportune moment to LAL

So basically the point here is that it doesn't matter that we've failed for so long, cause we aren't the only failures.

Do you think Tottenham will make it to 100?

It's only 41 years to go for Spurs !

Agree no good sugar coating this. Fact is Spurs are always seen as the ultimate bottlers because, unlike the others, they have lost just about every game of significance ( apart from the Ajax semi which to be honest was just a freak result and three cups in the early 1980's ) since god knows when.

And, crucially, every one in football knows it is going to happen before each respective game kicks off. It's the sheer inevitability with Spurs that rightly puts us at the top of any bottlers list.

Preston 130 (2 titles)
Sheffield United 122 (1 title)
Sunderland 107 (6 titles)
WBA 100 (1 title)
Huddersfield Town 94 (3 titles)
Newcastle United 93 (4 titles)
Sheffield Wednesday 90 (4 titles)
Portsmouth 70 (2 titles)
Wolves 61 (3 titles)
Spurs 59 (2 titles)
Liverpool 30 (18 titles)

I was wondering why you put the above clubs as big hitters. Then I checked title wins and I understand now,the majority have more titles then Spurs.

Good for pointing that out Sandy

Sandy, you can’t really sugar coat this mate we are an embarrassment. You are basically celebrating failure ? We don’t even win the small trophies mate, so let’s not even go down the league route. All of the top 6 win trophies, apart from Spurs. We ate an absolute joke under Levy/ENIC trophy wise

Don, as I pointed out Spurs have won 12 trophies since then, so hardly embarrassing. Certainly up there with the top five or six trophy winners over the same period.

When it comes to wumming Liverpool, I would say it’s probably more sensible to stick to the fact that the city is uniquely populated with bin-raiding, rodent-eating junkies with penchants for cabbage patch doll haircuts, flammable tracksuits and persistent petty crime.

Not quite right Steve, Spurs have won 12 trophies since that title win. 95 per cent of clubs in England would bite your hands of to win that many.

This article is about how long ago it was since any of those clubs won the league. None of them come anywhere near Spurs trophy haul over the past 60 years.

Nice try though.

As it happens Liverpool as a City is much, much preferable to Manchester. It is just the football club, I am not to keen on. But as a City it would be Liverpool all day long over Manchester.

Next year will be our year Don. I am expecting big things next season. If one thing this Corona Virus is going to do is level things up a lot. No more big spending from the lottery clubs. Every club will be on a shoestring, and being played behind closed doors should be a big advantage to Spurs. No pressure, so no bottling.

Mark my words Don, 2020/21 is going to be a big season for Spurs. The trophy drought will be ending big time next season.
