Sturridge

He was class for a while. Arguably a bit more to do with mentality though. Didn’t Klopp say he wouldn’t play if he had any niggle? Don’t remember him ever having a really bad injury.

Wilshere, Diaby - both missed over a season with serious injuries that they never recovered from.
Wilshere, after his breakthrough season in which he won the Young Player of the Year and was in team of the season, didn't play a single game in 11/12.

Diaby had only been with us a few months when he was the victim of an awful challenge putting him out for the best part of a year. The rest of his career was a succession of injuries that stopped him ever coming close to fulfilling his potential.

Probably as much mentality as injury there.

Diaby is so overrated.

Some more obscure suggestions:
Michu
Sahin
Lamela
Javi Martinez
Lanzini

Says Diaby is so overrated, then names Michu, Sahin, Lamela

Michu? Bit of a one season wonder no?

Lamela? Had one bad injury but wasn’t exactly a world beater before it.

Lanzini? See Lamela

Giuseppe Rossi is another one I can think of.

DJ wound up again I see

Not exactly in the sense like Ronaldo that they would become world beaters but had all those not been injury prone I think we would be talking about them a lot higher

Michu was about 27/28 when he suffered his first injury hit season. Not sure injury can be attributed to his career high being Swansea.

If he had kept fit he'd easily be in the 100 league goals club by now. Was a lethal striker when he was in form.

Do you think he would have left Spurs without the dodgy knee?

Definitely. One of the most naturally gifted PL strikers in recent times.

Hard to say...had he fulfilled his potential at least every one of the big 4 at that time would've tried their best to sign him.

Greenwood actually reminds me a lot of Sturridge. Although with a better right foot and hopefully without the injuries.

Michu was quality and then his knees gave way just as he peaked

Michael Owen is an obvious shout

I'd like to think that had his knees held up he'd have stayed and we'd have won another domestic cup or 2.

If the Brazilian Ronaldo never reaches his peak yet is still one of the greatest players ever, then how good he could have been if it wasn’t for injuries?
