You said people thought he was a more naturally talented player, this isn’t true. There was some expectation that he could overtake Ronaldo’s goal record for Brazil, but not as a footballer, he just didn’t have the talent for that, as good as he was.

I'm just admitting some felt he could've been better that is all. It's been noted it didn't happen but he had the tools, and lots of top players echo my thoughts.
At least u made me doubt what my memory was telling me, so I just watched a few of his videos. I know they can make me and you look like r7 but damn, his pace, power, crazy nutmeg and skills....he had it all. That's not even taking into account his shot.
He was like Ronaldo mixed with Harry Kane. Unplayable.
Imagine if Ronaldo hadn't got fat and mental illness/depression hadn't destroyed Adrianos career.
World cups would've been like watching the harlem globe trotters 😅
Both lost too many games to nightclubs but for different reasons.
I watched a video on YouTube a couple years back of Adriano’s best goals.
It was unreal.
Guy had crazy shooting power and speed: like a suped-up Gareth Bale (which is saying something coz I think Bale is the 9th best player I’ve ever seen).
David Hirst is one. United were willing to break the British transfer record for him, I believe. Wednesday refused to sell and within months of the start of the PL era, he got an injury from which he never really recovered
I saw the post and the name that comes to mind first is Adriano. He is what I class the complete striker and some more. If you had a time machine and could have either adriano who never got depressed or ronaldo who never got fat.
One was the king of strikers, and the other almost as good but still had potential to be even better, but eas that potential enough to surpass ronaldo

Thank god or else we wouldn’t have bought Cantona 😂
Not to injury, But Ravel Morrison should've been in the United team by now, Shame really, Because he was brilliant in the reserves ( That's what it was called at the time ), And he threw it away.
Quite a few I can think of, mostly because I had them as kids on pes master league back in the day.
Pato - Was the next Brazilian whiz kid, didn't happen
Bojan - Same time as Pato, ended up at Stoke
Freddy Adu - Nuff said <said>
Adel Taarabt - Looked awesome at QPR but his attitude let him down, ended up in the middle east I think.
I wanted to revisit Michael Essien again. Before his injury he was the one player I rated "pucker factor 10" seeing against us. He had every asset a great footballer needs, plus he was ferocious. After his injury he lost that ferocity, but was still a PL level player, We no longer feared him, though. I had wanted him in our side in a bad way to "replace" Roy Keane. Apparently a class bloke as well.

And being massively overhyped to begin with when in reality he wasn’t even as talented as Altidore.

Altidore? The American Ameobi.

U20 world cup isn’t really the barometer of ability. Everything I’ve seen, and read, of Adu suggests that he really just wasn’t a particularly good footballer. The hype didn’t help, but it also created a legend around his ability that he just did not possess.

Fair enough. I never got the fuss, albeit from limited viewing.
saviola.....was great as a youth player and for river...never really happened for him when he made the big move to europe

dont think saviola's career didnt develop because of injuries
he just seemed a bit lightweight in european football as i remember
He started off pretty well at Barca, to be fair. Just didn’t kick on and signing Eto’o finished him off there.
