If the Brazilian Ronaldo never reaches his peak yet is still one of the greatest players ever, then how good he could have been if it wasn’t for injuries?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly up there CR7 and Messi. As good as he was though I think there like many Brazilians you could question if he really had the drive to do it long term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is already up there with them, not in longliverty and career terms but in ability and impact. Without injury could have been even better maybe, probably the best striker I’ve ever seen
Wilshere has to be up there. Had he not been so injury prone he would have been the linchpin in the England squad for a decade.

This guy’s a weird one. It is almost unanimous how all footballers who played with him gas him up and say how good he was in training (including Rooney and Ferdinand). Not just good, about how he’s the most talented player they’ve ever seen, best on the pitch or whatever.
I’ve never been that impressed from what. I’ve seen from him at senior level. Maybe the closest he came to being ‘good’ was at QPR/West ham, even then he wasn’t really standout. Half decent attacking mid there.
Michael Owen. Dodgy hamstrings had a major influence on his career.

It’s no stretch to say that he made you forget that Pogba was on the pitch.

He was having issues as early as his early/mid 20's, arguable before his peak. His pace over a few yards had certainly declined, even though he was still quick.

Tbf, most of the time pogba has forgotten he’s on the pitch
Bit of a rando one but Nathaniel Chalobah. When he first moved to Watford permanently he was playing well and starting. He had just got his first England call-up from Southgate, a known fan of his at the time. The world genuinely at his feet - the trajectory at that point looked only positive.
Soon after that England call up was announced he suffered this mystery training ground freak knee injury. Dunno if the full details around it have even been released. Anyway since then it took him ages to come back and had niggling issues since. He’ll probably have an average career now, but he did have good potential. Dominant at youth level, at age of 17 a key player for promotion chasing Watford.
Surely that’s injuries robbing Owen of his potential then if he couldn’t maintain it? He’d have been England’s all time goal scorer without injuries, I reckon. And I don’t think Rooney would have passed it.
Dont know if anyone has said Saha yet - at his best, when fit, I genuinely thought he was as good as any striker around at the time. Had just begun to peak when the injuries really took hold.
Wilshere is another one of course. People like to mock him now but that kid had some serious potential at one point.
Wes Brown, I think people forget how great he could have been. Without injuries I don’t think we’d have been talking about Rio and Vidic.

Paul Lake, the former City midfielder. Was rated one of, of not the best young player in country before knee injuries cut his career short.
I'll be honest and admit I never saw him play but remember reading about his ordeals.
Nani
Barkley
Pato
Recoba
Joe Cole
Didn't see the due to injury.

Sturridge
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was class for a while. Arguably a bit more to do with mentality though. Didn’t Klopp say he wouldn’t play if he had any niggle? Don’t remember him ever having a really bad injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
hypochondriac or work shy for sure. Klopp let slip he wouldnt play if he felt a bit of wind basically. That season he played most of it with Suarez Sterling Coutinho he was quality. Had the talent just didnt trust his body.
Keita gonna be on their soon way hes going, down the sturridge path too.
Danny Ings, got back to back ACL injuries bless him and look how hes doing at SH. Showed the talent at Burnley then joined us with our front 3 and got 2 acl injuries gone to SH and look at him now, have to wonder how much far along or better he'd be without those back to back ACL injuries and how much theyre playing a part on his niggles he keeps getting at SH.
I think Martial is going to be on this list.
I still went to games most weeks when we signed him and I thought we might have another Ronaldo on our hands.
Perhaps I just read it wrong, but I do worry that he’s going to be a wasted talent, even if he ends up doing okay.
