Paul Lake, the former City midfielder. Was rated one of, of not the best young player in country before knee injuries cut his career short.
I'll be honest and admit I never saw him play but remember reading about his ordeals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was another city lad, Michael Johnson? Was meant to be highly rated and think he got a bad injury and mental health issues followed, or something like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He got drunk loads and loved a casino. Not shy to his food either.
Is that mental health? I guess. Wish that had worked in my 20's though!
In that case Mutu.
Del Piero would have been even better had he not done his knee.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was class for a while. Arguably a bit more to do with mentality though. Didn’t Klopp say he wouldn’t play if he had any niggle? Don’t remember him ever having a really bad injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
hypochondriac or work shy for sure. Klopp let slip he wouldnt play if he felt a bit of wind basically. That season he played most of it with Suarez Sterling Coutinho he was quality. Had the talent just didnt trust his body.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah. I think the injuries ruined him and each time he tried to come back he got injured again. In the end, any type of slight knock and he feared another injury keeping him out for months so tried to take it easy. This was never going to work under Klopp as if you listen to the players they say they have to train at 100%.
Before his last big injury he had started to pick up really good form and Liverpool had him on a personal training player, which appeared to be working. He went away with England and was forced to train as normal, which resulted in him getting injured. He never really came back from that one.

For us or players who moved on from us.
Neil Webb, Ben Thornley, Louis Saha, Phil Jones, Norman Whiteside, Lee Sharpe (illness as well) and Heinze.
Another one - Jay Rodriguez. He was scoring at a 1 in 2 record for Southampton and probably would have got called upto Euro 14 and gone on to have some big money move somewhere in the coming months. Massive injury in late Spring

Who was that young united player who was emerging around the same time as giggs, he was compared to Best and the club had really high hopes for him?
If I'm right he had mental health issues and passed away young?

Sounds like you might be mixing two players up there.
Ben Thornley was rated very highly (as one of the very best prospects of the Class of ‘92 era) and was supposedly to become Giggs’ competition until he did his knee ligaments in 1994.
Went on to play for a bunch of Lancashire clubs in the lower leagues before retiring. But he’s still fit and well and now working for MUTV.

Knees were shot he was offered a retirement package from utd but played on for another 6 years or so. Throw in his drink problem and you wonder what more he could have done in his career

In my opinion yes and you cannot say I am biased against United.
I would put him ahead of both Keane and Brady.
Watch his performance against Italy and world player of the year Roberto Baggio in USA 94, a masterclass.
Bear in mind also his partner that day was Phil Babb
