90% had us down for top 6 at best. You’re only labelling it 3rd best squad in the league because of how much Frank has got out of what were largely labelled as championship players.
They've done well.
Going back to last summer I had chelsea in 6th or 7th. Their squad looked really poor. But Mount and Abraham have stepped up well. James looks a good prospect. Pulisic looks a hell of a talent and Kovacic has really improved.

given chelsea lost their most important player in hazard, lampard had to discover a new way for chelsea to start winning. As a utd fan I have been very impressed.
Chelsea setup seem more geared to accomodating manageral changes without going into meltdown or years of transition
Lost 12, and dropped points in half the games they played.
Yet still managed to get top 4.

I do have to agree that he is getting overrated, probably because he's English. If they go and win the FA Cup then he's had a fine season.

He's done a great job considering the odds were stacked against him.
Managed the team's flaws well overall.
Had a lot of issues to overcome, but in the end when it really mattered. The team performed for him.
Even against Liverpool, they showed up. Yes their defence let them down, but they never gave up.
You gotta give credit for that also.

Only Abraham, Tomori and Mount were unproven and Abraham’s season fizzled out.
Our squad looks good now because young players and people who were written off and laughed at as championship players have proven themselves, which is just another piece of evidence of how well Lampard has done.
Peak revisionism going on today
There's a decent trophy winning mentality at Chelsea. Even if the perception is that they are doing a bit crap, they tend to pop up with a trophy. I'd expect them to win the FA Cup next week. Deservedly so based on their performance against us last week.
Can't say that he's underachieved. Whether he's overachieved would probably be whether you think he wasn't particularly up to the job when he took over. They did finish 3rd last season and won the EC. A good squad of players.
Don't think anyone would be too surprised to see them top 4, equally not too much of a surprise if they had missed out.
Frankly speaking this season is huge achievement for Chelsea, considering we have new inexperience manager, couldn't buy a single player plus hazard off to Madrid. We did a great job, possibly under those circumstances best in EPL. Winning FA Cup would be cheery on the tort. We brought in young players such as Mount, James, Pulisic etc, at the start of the season when my aim was to finish around 8th place with 4-5 yaoun players to settle in our team as a solid base for next season so yes, Chelsea over achieve this season even if we would lose next week against Arsenal.
