It’s got to be given at this point. Changes might be needed going forward such as vouchers as mentioned previously as for every pound that is used ‘fraudulently’ is taking away from those in genuine dire need.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
£2,000,000,000 was defrauded by companies during the initial furlough scheme.
£12,000,000,000 was spent on a failed track and trace system.
£450,000,000 was wasted on a ventilator challenge scheme.
£50,000,000, was wasted on unusable PPE.
But hey, god forbid we can't account for every penny spent making sure children have at least one decent meal a day. π
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup and heads should roll for those errors too.
“The figure may well be a lot less than you thought, but it's still a lot of money. In 2015-16, total spending on benefits was £172.3bn, which means that £1.9bn was fraudulently claimed“
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/election-2017-39980793
So it’s also a lot of money, don’t be so reductive. I’ve already said it needs to be paid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm being reductive?
Wow.
How much is the new rail link costing.
Just when more work is going to be done at home.
Anyway, time to stop wasting time responding to utter clap trap.
I'm off, good night and god bless. π

Yes, I’ve already said that there is no question that we should pay for the food scheme. No doubt whatsoever.
But there is a legitimate concern that a. Family allowance already provides £93 per month and b. A lot of money is wrongly taken out of the system by some of the same people that are demanding this food scheme.
It is also undeniable that some of these people will not be managing their money very well (some not all).
Government money mismanagement also needs to be looked at as you have pointed out but it’s not the only loss.
Your pithy comment of ‘god forbid’ et cetera and solely laying blame at the government is what is reductive.

I wouldn’t mind that if the waste on benefits was also included but it wasn’t as it didn’t fit his opinions on the matter. Effective management of government money is vital but it’s not unfair to point out that billions (that they know of) of benefits is taken fraudulently when we’re discussing adding additional benefits.
