There are no blasphemy laws in the UK so explain why you believe the teacher is guilty of abuse?

I find it absolutely staggering that people still believe in a God, let alone that said belief gives them the confidence to demand someone's life be ruined for disparaging their fantasy.

Yep. It’s mind boggling, unfathomable. Complete brainwashing from birth passed on from one generation to the next, the root of so much evil. I’ve no time for it whatsoever.

My dad was raised a catholic in Liverpool in the 40's/50's by Irish parents.
He fooking hated religion and hated everything that Catholicism stood for.He told me stories of as a young kid he'd bunk off from school because he hated it so much and he'd be asked by the nuns what colour sacriments (something like that) was the priest wearing at mass yesterday and if he guessed wrong he'd be punished.
His mum would have the best china out with food that they could ill afford to feed the priest when he came out on his rounds. My grandmother had 3 children and often they'd go without meals during the week just so she gave the church money and gave the priest quality tea and food during his visits.
Fooking sickining,at least when he had children, the 4 of us weren't christened so we had the choice to follow religion ourselves.Needless to say none of us have because it's a fooking mugs game.
I hate religion more than anything else.

What he said here about the church and kids going without and being asked what the sermon etc was about while at risk of punishment is completely true.
I was born in 1974 and if you dared say a word against the church when growing up you'd be murdered by your parents.

Was probably trying to teach some tolerance to the pupils and it’s back fired badly on him. I don’t think anyone is foolish enough to deliberately provoke.
Lighten up mate.
I have no belief in an religion. But I think that we should respect people who do. The big majority of Christians and Jews who do have faith come across as kindly people. I have met and spoken with for any length of time also came across well.
As for the teacher, he was a fool, it could only end badly in a predominantly Muslim school.

Exactly this.
A teacher tried to teach tolerance to generation that'll sadly grow up to be intolerant. It's backfired on him badly and you can say he was foolish to even try.
The 'Peaceful' conclusion you talk about is that the mob is once again given in too.
The teacher and his family now have to move far away. There lives in this town are over if they stay. Everything about the Samuel Paty killing applies here. They'll find him and kill him. His family are also in danger.
That is the conclusion and it is sickening.

I had 2 strokes in 2017 - I retired on medical grounds - TBH it was a blessing in disguise - I never really fitted in to the institution, and my treatment by it since has totally opened my eyes to the corrupt, self-serving, power crazed machine the Church really is
I can’t even fact going into a Church building anymore - as I say, I totally detest the whole thing

The is the crux of the matter for me - to disguise between ‘Religion’ and those that have ‘a faith’ and try to live it out
There is a huge difference - one is a man-created institution that is built on control, abuse and power the other is an internal/spiritual journey that hopefully inspires a person to be outward looking and to do good in the world
That’s where I am with the whole thing anyway

Yep. It’s mind boggling, unfathomable. Complete brainwashing from birth passed on from one generation to the next, the root of so much evil. I’ve no time for it whatsoever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Growing up in Dublin in the 70s and 80s you may as well have been living in a monastery
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At least you had nuns to lust after. Also you all must have been as fit as olympians to outrun the priests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not just priests but brothers as well.
Joking aside if you can stomach it read the murphy report on the state and church collusion in child sexual abuse. Just a warning it's a tough read.

They ran the country

Did you grow a conscious? Were you forced out or did it just run it's course?
At the end of the day it's a secure job with plenty going for it when it comes to housing, job security and longevity.I take it you'd have decent pension and when the grim reaper called you'd be inturned at cost.
