The good news is that the majority of british born gen Z/Millennials from relgious families (whatever religion) love booze and a sh*g and for the most part are keeping up appearances with their faith until their parents/granparents perish, and won't pass this rubbish onto their children, so in a couple of generations the nonsense will be marginalised.

Why does the fact that it contains the suffix "phobia" make any difference? The meaning is quote clear and consistent with use in things like homophobia.

Phobia means an extreme or irrational fear of something. To include this into all criticism of Islam is deliberate to make people less likely to criticise it and easier for others to see it as unreasonable criticism. Like I said, to my knowledge no other religion has a similar variant. Do you think that the fascists that first introduced the term added phobia by accident?

Well at first it was a term used by the French in the early 20th century but to describe liberal Muslims rather than the modern usage of the word which was formed in analogy to xenophobia was in the1970s by some Iranian fundamentalists & some link it to the Muslim Brotherhood. It grew mostly as I’m sure you’ll know during the late 90s (Runnymede report) and 2000s for pretty obvious reasons.
Just in case you don’t remember our previous conversations - I don’t hate Muslims đ

It was indeed French in origin and was the word islamophobie. But it wasn't as you suggest. It was with regards to prejudice against Islam.
Oxford dictionary had it in 1923 as fear and hate of Islam.
Islam is a perfect religion its everyone else thats to blame for getting it wrong.
The wokeness of the 21st century will lead to people being unable to say what is true. with fear of being called hateful.. so the hatefulness will go unabated..

You do realise that the meaning of words and how we use them evolves? Why would someone write anti-islamic when there is already an established word that means the same thing in Islamaphobia? Of course the phrase is used against criticism if Islam because in many cases that criticism is Islamaphobic.
Homophobia and xenophobia are proof that language evolves. Neither necessarily means a fear of something. They can mean a dislike or hatred as well. The key point is that this hatred is originally driven by a fear. With Islamaphobia the irrational fear is based on the ideas that Muslims are suicide bombers or terrorists and people then use these fears to Stoke up hatred.
Here are the base definitions of both Islamophobia and anti-semitism as provided by Google - tell me if you spot any fundamental differences:
"dislike of or prejudice against Islam or Muslims"
"hostility to or prejudice against Jewish people"
One uses hostility and one uses dislike but beyond that they are identical because their meaning is the same.

I have a degree in languages and linguistics so yes thanks, I think I understand your complex concept of ‘language evolving’.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word means "Intense dislike or fear of Islam, esp. as a political force; hostility or prejudice towards Muslims
Oxford English Dictionary adjective
prejudiced or hostile toward Jews:
Fear is the fundamental difference and my entire point.
It’s not that difficult or understand. It’s a silly neologism ‘with the aim of promoting criticism of Islam to the gallery of special offences associated with racism’.
Read some Dr Chris Allen, your facile arguments bore me tbh.
We’ve been warned about this happening here for a long time and not enough people listened, people were scared to speak out and there were happenings then and there are happenings like this now and still you try to quibble over the glaringly obvious difference between anti-semitism and Islamophobia.
We have been weak with this issue for a long time and it’s mostly due in my opinion to the illegal war we waged in Iraq & Afghanistan and it’s fear from reprisals forthcoming from valid criticism labelled as Islamophobic.
Not one of my Islamic friends agree with any of this stuff that is happening because they are British and Muslim. We have dedicated faith schools for a reason. Not one of my friends agree with the term Islamophobia either.
Did you know that the Archbishop of Canterbury backed sharia for British Muslims? It would help achieve social cohesion apparently.
Recently, it has been in the headlines again – this time for passing a resolution demanding that world governments legislate in their own countries to criminalise any criticism of ‘religions’. The only religion the resolution actually names, however, is Islam.
So do you also go on massive rants about how the word Gay is no longer exclusively used to mean happy and care-free? Or do you only kick up a fuss about it when it is religion?
Even your OED definition disproves your point. You quote it as ""Intense dislike or fear of Islam, esp. as a political force; hostility or prejudice towards Muslims" the use of the word "or" between dislike and fear clearly means that fear is not a fundamental element of Islamophobia as defined because "intense dislike" is enough in its own.
Also the use of the semi-colon to separate the two suggests that the second half can be used as the definition itself. This second half, as you have quoted, is "hostility or prejudice towards Muslims".
Let's compare this to the definition you also provide for anti-semitism - "prejudiced or hostile toward Jews:". Once again, as per my previous comment, they are functionally identical.
So your assertion that fear is the fundamental difference between the two terms is not correct since, using the definitions that you provided yourself, fear is not even a fundamental component of either definition. It is a potential component and therefore only a potential difference.
When accusing others of facile arguments, it is somewhat embarrassing to rely on evidence that disproves your claim.
I’ll keep it really facile for you.
What does phobia mean?
How many other religions have adopted this suffix?
Only one of the major religions reacts this way, we only pander to one religion and it always starts with language such as islamophobia and ends up with the archbishop advocating sharia for British Muslims.
You are free to disagree all you like but I’ll stick to believing what experts are saying rather than welshpoolfan from a football forum lol.

Homophobia yes but not Islamophobia. To my knowledge it is the only religion which incorporates phobia into a term representing anti views. Note that it’s not Judeopbia or Christophobia.
That’s not my quote as it happens I believe it was Andrew Cummins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does the fact that it contains the suffix "phobia" make any difference? The meaning is quote clear and consistent with use in things like homophobia.

Funny thing is this is how words like faith and religion started. So I think they are words created by fascists ...
Mocking people's waybif life is a fad. It's hipster innit. Usually by idiots who have little to no understanding of it. Fans of Dawkins etc

Oxford dictionary had it in 1923 as fear and hate of Islam.

Anti-Semitic is not the same as phobia though, is it? It just means against. It doesn’t imply irrationality or fear.

The only religion the resolution actually names, however, is Islam.
posted on 1/4/21
So do you also go on massive rants about how the word Gay is no longer exclusively used to mean happy and care-free?
