After studying the history and seeing what happened in eastern europe my conclusion is that it is essentially an even more centralised version of capitalism. Instead of people profiting from their own work and business, only the government are able to profit.

There’s no mention of other houses or how she bought them in that NYT link. It just says she’s bought a house in LA for $1.4m. Also speculates this on a possible source of income to buy such an expensive house;
“ Khan-Cullors, 37, signed a multi-platform deal with Warner Bros in October, although it is not clear how much she is paid by BLM since their finances flow through a complex web of for-profit and nonprofit corporate entities.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are other articles out there talking about several properties and I don't think that is mis-information unfortunately.
Let's see how this one develops. Although defending this individual is not a hill that I think you will want to die on.
It is human nature afterall.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t defend her. Just pointed out misinformation in the link and your comments

So she bought a nice house, what’s your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cough, cough, 4, cough, cough
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Still don't see the point,so if she was broke and lived at her mums then that makes the cause she is part of/ founded valid or something? but because she has bought properties, like millions of people do ,it isnt???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My friend, with the utmost respect. Please don't conflate your loyalty and support for the cause with loyalty and support for this woman.
She is quite clearly profiteering personally. That does not make the overall cause a bad one.
I was just pointing out there are some opportunists out there that use this for personal gain, that's all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't dispute that she made personal gain and i don't have any loyalty to this woman because i don't know or give chit about her, but the way your trying to diminish BLM or anti racism by the fact that she made money, (like most of the world does) is a one of the many tactics i have seen used for decades to smear people or organisations...it's BS and irrelevant to the cause, unless you want to damage it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. I completely agree that it is irrelevant to the cause. I actually separate the movement and the organisation for this reason. My comment was more an observation on human behaviour, not BLM.
You mention "anti-racism". Have you read the book? From Ibram X. Kendi. What do you make of it?

There is no BLM organisation as such. There’s several factions that use the terminology somewhere in their name, they all have differing individual ideologies though.

Not really, it was Leninism.
There's as far more distance between Soviet communism and socialism, than there is between socialism and capitalism.
Modern socialism is a capitalist construct for a start.
90% of people who throw around labels like Marxist and socialist have no clue what they are. Yet still use them as insults

It's all about luxury communism.
It does make me laugh when the older generation say 'socialism simply doesn't work' when they had free school meals, free prescriptions, free education (in fact paid to go), free health care, free dentistry, free opticians and got a pension at 65.

Socialism is how we recovered from the second world war, and the war generation were staunch socialists, they built all the infrastructure that's made this country what it is today, the roads, the rail, the water and the electricity networks.
They contributed a fair share to rebuild a country, then their kids sold it all off, and it's barely attracted any investment since, all exploited to extract profit and provide an ever worsening service.
It's funny how the boomers idolise the war generation untill it comes to their economic politics..

Not quite.
Socialism or capitalism isn't the answer. The truth is somewhere in the middle (like with most things in life).
Remember that the country was in a tough place in the 80s and the UK had a worse reputation for striking than the French.
You need capitalism to help you to innovate. Even the Chinese government have worked this out.
A mixed economy is best in my opinion. The key is to ensure that power is not overly centralised because that leads to bad outcomes.

Democratic socialism is that middling ground.
Capitalism for everything but essential services, which should be run as a not for profit.
Whilst flipping trickle down economics on its head, not giving money to corporations and instead giving it to the populace to spend and drive the economy.
I'm not sure what part of my post was "Not quite" that's exactly how the recovery was led post war.
Also: The strikes were what kept wages rising in line with productivity, since Thatcher broke the unions we've seen a 20% Increase in wages over almost 40 years whilst the cost of living has almost trebled.
Adjusted for inflation earning 26k in 1990 was 62k in today's money, yet people in those same roles now earn around 31k on average

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a secret, Bluebells, just go to their website:
#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
Yeah. Having a real estate portfolio. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I read about that. Didn't one of the founders (the self professed "trained Marxist"take profits and buy herself a bunch of houses?
This is the thing about Marxists, they are Marxist up until the point when it becomes profitable... then they turn into Capitalists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tis why I'm a Marxist now.😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even activism is a lucrative business now I guess. Maybe it always was.
These guys must be laughing at the common people while they fight and argue, while at the same time making a ton of cash on top.

So she bought a nice house, what’s your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, she was able to buy the houses from donations made. I am pretty sure that people didn't think that this is where their money would be going.
My point has nothing to do with BLM though. It was to do with how activists are able to make personal profit out of the good will of people. It happens over and over again! That aspect makes me a little sad but I guess it is human nature.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you don’t even know, you’re speculating. Like I said, a desperate f*cking smear attempt.

I was referring to the socialism being the way we rebuilt the country after the war.
If you are referring to that short period afterwards then you are spot on. And I think you need that kind of sacrifice to rebuild after such devastation. But I don't think people could do that in the modern day and age.
My point was since then we have swung like a pendulum towards a more free market which was definitely needed in the 80s and 90s onwards.

Yeah. Having a real estate portfolio. 😂

After studying the history and seeing what happened in eastern europe my conclusion is that it is essentially an even more centralised version of capitalism. Instead of people profiting from their own work and business, only the government are able to profit.

There’s no mention of other houses or how she bought them in that NYT link. It just says she’s bought a house in LA for $1.4m. Also speculates this on a possible source of income to buy such an expensive house;

These guys must be laughing at the common people while they fight and argue, while at the same time making a ton of cash on top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a truly desperate smear attempt.
Try harder.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Standard stuff. Demonise progressive action.

Completely agree that there's a lot of bad information out there but I think this one has some truth to it though.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on what has been reported it is clear that she has skimmed some off of the top. She is profiteering from the cause. It is obvious to see. This is not a comment on BLM, it is a comment on her.
Try to look at it rationally and not through the eyes of an ideologue. There is nothing different between what she is doing and what Boris did when he decorated his flat.
If you lambast one you must lambast the other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have evidence?
I’ve seen this same desperate smear all over social media for weeks, no doubt the same people who smeared George Floyd.
Why is it when black folk are involved you people are so quick to imply criminality or wrong doing?

BLM political policies?
Tell us what they want?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a secret, Bluebells, just go to their website:
#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
Yeah. Having a real estate portfolio. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I read about that. Didn't one of the founders (the self professed "trained Marxist"take profits and buy herself a bunch of houses?
This is the thing about Marxists, they are Marxist up until the point when it becomes profitable... then they turn into Capitalists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tis why I'm a Marxist now.😂

Cough, cough, 4, cough, cough
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you this bitter because you live in a one room hovel and have done nothing with your life that anyone will ever remember?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mocking the poor. Stay classy.

Harry Enfield did that in the 90’s. It’s just typical Brit sense of humour
