Boo Sky for taking a stance, don't boo black players for making a stand against racism.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but its not all about you.
Lots of folk watch footie on Sky and some will inevitably see the BLM movement and the taking of the knee as interlinked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But if you can't seperate the opinions of those at Sky to those of the players then do you not think there's a need to look at yourself?
-----------------------------------------------------

I think people have got to a point where they're saying enough is enough. You can't get away from it. All the critical race theory madness. Massive institution's telling their employees to be less white. When you question it you're tagged as white and fragile? All on the back of some nutter killing a bloke over in the states. It's not being a snowflake it's just wondering what the fk is going on in the world. When you wanna get away from it and watch a bit of football on the weekend, fk me, your reminded of it all again. Its not surprising people want to be heard.

Depends on your mindset.
I see players taking the knee to stand with their teammates for getting racially abused online and I think fair play to them.
You seem to see it as some huge political thing instead, which is upto you but to me it seems like a lot of effort to go to, first to make that stretch and then to be offended by it.
I personally think that energy can be used better on other things

Yes and we have the right to point out the racism behind booing an anti-racist action.
Kneeling is a sign of respect, it's done voluntarily by the players in solidarity with their colleagues and friends who are racially abused week in and week it.
Incidentally the continent wide campaign by UEFA to eliminate racism in football is called the "Respect campaign" therefore it's fitting to use a gesture of respect
I would imagine that everyone who thinks it's okay to racially abuse a footballer probably boos or complains about the gesture, and whilst not everybody opposed to the gesture will think it's okay to racially abuse them, you are sharing a platform and viewpoint with the very people who have made it necessary
Even if you aren’t doing so for racist reasons you’re still aligning yourself with those that do. You can be guaranteed 100% of the racists idiots within our fan base will be booing. Even if you don’t agree you’re still joining in with them lot.
Not advisable really

I imagine people have different reasons for booing or not generally supporting the gesture
- a portion are likely racist
- some perceive it is a radical political gesture and assocuate it with the BLM protests of last summer and the initial response to George Floyd
- some think footballers should not lecture fans and sports and politics don't mix
- others are probably trolls loving the reaction
Sympathy with the middle two reasons listed, even if I personally wouldnt boo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I struggle to have sympathy with points two and three to be honest. Anyone that takes it upon themselves to interpret the actions of someone else as a political gesture (even when the people doing it have said it isn’t) and then subsequently gets offended by it may as well just be calling themselves a tw@t in the mirror.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree.
I think the actions are clearly political, and this is not really relevant to how they have morphed into a generic stance against equality.
The gesture followed George Floyd, was inspired by activism in the US, and was initially labelled under BLM - which is a radical stance whether you feel prepared to admit it or not.
I also don't like the idea of hyper privileged millionaires lecturing players and pretending meaning tweets written about them means they are oppressed and not among the luckiest human beings in the history of our entire species.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Except taking the knee predates BLM which sort of negates your entire point about it being initially labelled as it...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking the knee predates BLM and was then a political action in the civil rights movement, but it has since been used and popularised by BLM riots, Kaepernick and activism generally. To pretend otherwise is delusional.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we agree that it is used as a general anti-racist stance and is not actually affiliated with BLM. What point were you trying to make?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is so naive.
The BLM logo is everywhere so of course the two will be linked and no amount of pleading to the contrary will work until the logo disappears.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everywhere? If you have to exaggerate to make your point then you don't have a point.
Do you advocate booing people who wear poppies because the poppy had been associated with far-roght racist groups?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are huge BLM banners at the grounds so I'm not sure how exaggerating comes into it?
I wear a poppy and I wouldn't boo the taking of a knee myself but I believe the BLM logo should be dropped in every capacity surrounding football so that there is no confusion that the taking of the knee is a stand (excuse the pun) alone gesture.
I don't think the room always has to be split but when you talk in such ridiculous absolutes with no logic to back them up then you back people into a corner where they feel they have to come out and oppose those opinions
Stop taking the knee.
A media driven agenda designed solely to divide the masses.
Ultimately we all lose.
Honestly, how small must your brain be to take issue with people making an anti-racism gesture

But if you can't seperate the opinions of those at Sky to those of the players then do you not think there's a need to look at yourself?
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------
I think people have got to a point where they're saying enough is enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on your mindset.

I don't watch my football on Sky so I don't see the BLM logo at all when I watch football.
Boo Sky for taking a stance, don't boo black players for making a stand against racism.

Yeah I thought that taking the knee was long before George Floyd.
As to whoever said players should just come off all social media, that's pretty much just victim blaming.
Rather than that, why don't we try to educate future generations better and show consequences for those who are racist online, rather than punishing those on the receiving end of it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Educate just means condition everyone to think like you want them to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I want people to think other races should be treated equally. Why are you arguing against this so hard?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am arguing against the idea people should be forced to clap along to far-left political statement based on critical race theory.
Cheers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Noone is asking anyone to clap, just not to boo?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So only make noise if you agree.
As mentioned, i wouldn't personally boo, but I defend the right of people to do it. Freedom of expression can't just be for millionaire footballers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree that people have the right to do it, I just don't see how they can justify it as anything other than racism after Southgates comments especially

You can bury head if you want. I'm telling you why some people might be upset. It's a culmination of events. As always with politics, the room will be split. That will be echoed on the terraces.

Not quite as small as those who will never understand how they are constantly being played.
