Of course BLM is a divisive political movement. It’s supposed to be. It’s combating the very concept that institutional racism doesn’t exist when there is so much evidence that it does. Funnily enough, people don’t like being told that the very foundations on which their society is built is unfairly balanced towards one set of people. So let it be divisive and hopefully enough people wake up to the idea that something needs to change to help people who would be left to suffer if the people who are ignorant to the realities of the world are allowed to meander into apathy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a happy co-incident that the founders are all trained marxists and have set BLM goals that align with a Marxist approach of undermining the West then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, you really misunderstand the whole idea of what they stand for.

So basically, the people that are being racially abused should only be doing gestures that the racial abusers think is acceptable or not 'divisive'?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So the people paying to watch a sporting event should sit quiet whilst the players perform a gesture closely linked with a divisive political organisation.
Works both ways

If people actually understood the concept of why the police should be defunded they’d see it was actually an idea with many merits. But the average knuckle dragging football fan who boos players doesn’t have the capacity to sit down and look into it. He’s just happy to sleepwalk through his existence and not look for alternatives and choose the path of least resistance by booing what he doesn’t understand.

In other words we share similar politics with the US.
We got there eventually
The fear of socialist ideas being integrated into a western capitalist society is one of the great headscratchers in 2021. If you spoke to some right leaning people in the US, they’d tell you that free healthcare was ‘communism’ and yet in the UK and most other western countries, free healthcare is a right of life. So I often laugh when I see people using ‘Marxism’ as this whole ‘the world would end if we adopted some of the ideals’.

You can safely say that it’s not the understanding of those who boo. Because they are making that clear through their actions.
The players have made it clear it’s not about politics, it’s about the racist abuse they and their team mates keep enduring whilst doing their jobs.
You’re going to keep telling them they’re wrong and the protest they are performing isn’t what what they say it is but instead about something else that serves to make you angry.

You’re almost there. It’s almost like a mix of capitalist values and socialist values might well be the answer. And BLM aren’t trying to eradicate capitalism. Just trying to bridge the gap between the two and make things fairer for the people left behind.

“ And the supporters groups and others have made it clear why the fans disagree with the gesture. Just because thats the player's understanding of the gesture doesn't make it the nation's understanding of it.“
It’s great you speaking for the nation and everything however it’s the minority who boo supposed understanding not the nation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go on, I’m up for a laugh. Tell us the nations understanding of players kneeling.
The people booing are obviously dissatisfied with kneeling. Despite the players being quite clear why they are doing it. Those are the ones that this statement applies to;
“ Just because thats the player's understanding of the gesture doesn't make it the nation's understanding of it.“
How do you know what the nations understanding is?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok replace "nation" with "whole nation" in my post. Now you go

“ It's a battle to keep it that way. Identity politics, populism etc. That's not really what we're about.”
You do know who is our current PM and how he got there don’t you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. Politics in this country is being driven by what happens across the pond.
It should be called out. I'm in no way saying it's right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In other words we share similar politics with the US.

People that use those terms have absolutely no idea what they mean, the media has programmed into them to think it's taboo. Humans are sheep, and most of those sheep are right wing nonces.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, did you actually just compare the players getting racially abused as the same as paying fans having to sit through the players taking a knee? Really???

Don’t think anyone claimed it was the whole nations understanding.
Yeah ok then

This is going round in circles. The players can say what they like about the gesture, as can the fans.
The players have a platform, the fans don't

You’re almost there. It’s almost like a mix of capitalist values and socialist values might well be the answer. And BLM aren’t trying to eradicate capitalism. Just trying to bridge the gap between the two and make things fairer for the people left behind.
