The abuse a BLACK player received for not taking the knee. Also note what he says about why white players cannot do anything other than take the knee.

“ And the supporters groups and others have made it clear why the fans disagree with the gesture. Just because thats the player's understanding of the gesture doesn't make it the nation's understanding of it.“

It’s great you speaking for the nation and everything however it’s the minority who boo supposed understanding not the nation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go on, I’m up for a laugh. Tell us the nations understanding of players kneeling.

The people booing are obviously dissatisfied with kneeling. Despite the players being quite clear why they are doing it. Those are the ones that this statement applies to;

“ Just because thats the player's understanding of the gesture doesn't make it the nation's understanding of it.“

How do you know what the nations understanding is?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok replace "nation" with "whole nation" in my post. Now you go
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t think anyone claimed it was the whole nations understanding.

You can safely say that it’s not the understanding of those who boo. Because they are making that clear through their actions.

The players have made it clear it’s not about politics, it’s about the racist abuse they and their team mates keep enduring whilst doing their jobs.

You’re going to keep telling them they’re wrong and the protest they are performing isn’t what what they say it is but instead about something else that serves to make you angry.

Yeah ok then

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is going round in circles. The players can say what they like about the gesture, as can the fans.

The players have a platform, the fans don't
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And?

Question in the OP isn’t whether the fans should boo or not. It’s whether the players, the ones who experience racist abuse regularly, should stop a form of protest against racism.

A side issue of that is certain fans constantly misinterpreting that protest despite plenty of info being available explaining why it’s taking place. So constant it’s starting to look like the misinterpretation is intentional.

Which opinion to believe, the players who have been consistent in their reasons, or certain fans who constantly get it wrong, conflate and engage in whataboutery?

THE PROTEST IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BLM ORGANISATION

Why are they even being discussed here?

It’s like arguing that the Union Flag shouldn’t be flown because it’s a symbol associated with the far right, or that anyone who wears a beret is a revolutionary, or that anyone seen eating quinoa must be a vegan.

(OK, that last one is probably true.)

I do kinda feel sorry for them because you can clearly see the agenda being pushed daily, by right wing papers then these guys come out with the exact same cra.p that they have just read, without understanding what they're saying or even understanding why they are angry.

“ It's a battle to keep it that way. Identity politics, populism etc. That's not really what we're about.”

You do know who is our current PM and how he got there don’t you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree. Politics in this country is being driven by what happens across the pond.

It should be called out. I'm in no way saying it's right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In other words we share similar politics with the US.

We got there eventually
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You're obviously more comfortable with the idea that we share similar politics and ideas with America. That's fine. It fits.

There are huge differences in how we and the Americans conduct our politics.

We should do our best to distance ourselves from it when it rears it's head.

definitely, that same sleepy apathy led to the Brexit vote and doomed future generations to a less enriched life all because of a con job that benefited a very small amount of people.

Point me to where I’ve said I’m comfortable with it?

Politically we are very similar, hence the idea of western democracy predominantly including both nations and both nations being seen as allies in recent major conflicts. This is a fact.

You claimed we don’t share political ideals with the US. This is proven to be not true. Our current PM is Trump light FFS

I don't think it causes people to suddenly become racist, but on the flip side I cannot see it making a racist suddenly become a non racist.

It has caused division, which is what BLM actually want apparently.

Why appease the racists and hard of understanding? Seems counterproductive to the point of protesting in the first place.

Protest racism in a way that won’t upset the racists and those unable to understand why it’s happening

So the answer is to cause greater division to get people to come together in a shared goal to eradicate racism.

Great idea that will be 100% foolproof

It’s not those protesting creating division. They have been very clear about their reasons and have even stated it’s nothing to do with politics and the wider debate around racism, BLM etc.

WTF are you on about? As i said the only 'divisions happening now are people who want to continue to be racist and people who don't. There's no non-divisive way around it, it's impossible.

Is it that black and white in your eyes.If you agree with kneeling you are a good guy/girl,if you boo or disagree you are a racist.

That's a very simplistic view and a very dangerous one in my opinion.

Your adding 2+2 and getting 8.
It's very simple, if you agree or disagree with the kneeling, that's up to you, no one (only you) said that it makes you a good or bad person BUT, if you boo the kneeling then you are showing disdain for the message they are portraying. Understand?

what is ironic is if you actually look online, a good percentage of all racial abuse actually comes from black people anyway.

angry africans are by far the worst
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A good percentage? How high a percentage?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
81.67% at a rough guess
