Just for the record, Manchester City only registered 19 over 21 players in their squad for this season and that included 6 HGP. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Brighton registered the same as us, which was 21. Others, Norwich (18) and Leeds (17) less. So I get tired of reading how small a squad we have, day after day.

We have 5 players out injured, only Chelsea have more with 6.
As for Sanderson. If he's back with us as cover, then unless we get injuries, he goes back out on loan again when Saiss returns. Giles is back too and neither he or Sanderson got game time against Sheffield United.
I've never bee a fan of the loan system, primarily because, they very rarely come back to get into the first team. They go out on loan to gain so called experience and even though they may get rave reviews, how many have actually returned to us and claimed a first team spot?
Mir is a classic example. Stays out on loan and then we sell for a profit. The same will probably apply to all those out on loan right now. Remember Bolla? We bought him for 1.8m and sent him to Grasshoppers straight away. Over 21 so we can't get him back until next season.
Hopefully our walking wounded will be back before too long, which should appease some on here, or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We can bring Bolla back this month if we wish. All we have to do is make room in the squad we submit, whether it be loaning Jordao, Burr etc etc.
And we have a small squad, this isn't a debate, in fact our options in defence and midfield are pitiful. As Bruno has pointed out regarding Dendoncker, he is our first choice cover in defence and midfield, how can some not see the problem in that??
The loan system is being used as a little side business to generate cash and add to turnover. By a player with potential, get him games and experience, sell him for a profit. The Mir example is a good one, though he's probably worth even more than we sold him for now.
True though that in recent years, very few have returned from loan to challenge for a first team place and I would like to see more of that, but by and large it's a win win, we either get profit from sales or players to help our squad.

I can see problems in all teams, whether they have spent big, have huge bloated squads, wage bills out of control, unhappy dressing rooms. massive debt.
I think if our biggest problem is Dendonker covering a few positions, while sitting in eighth is out biggest problem, I think we are doing pretty well.
Read this article earlier on the wolves blog, illustrates well why the club needs a many revenue streams as possible to enable it to compete with the big boys. Ffp prevents owners over investing hence the seemingly bizarre initiatives like the "non regulated" investment in e-sports and record labels to increase turnover.
Seems a bit of a farce that the UEFA ffp rules are so out of step with the PL ones.

I totally understand what Fosun is trying to do. And to be fair they are doing it pretty well. We need to build the franchise, that is the long term strategy that takes time, but builds on solid foundations..

Yeah no complaints with the club trying to generate funds in whatever ways they see fit. Some will work, some won't. Though we do need to recognise that these will only ever be minor in the grand scheme of things.

It is great if you don't really have any ambitions to break the top six. I personally see what West Ham are doing and think that should be us right now, especially after the hard work to get close with back to back 7th place finishes.
Now it seems some are 'happy' for us to just plod along and not correct weaknesses. If the answer is bringing back Sanderson then we are asking the wrong questions.
What do people make of the rumours of Ndombele for Traore. I would quite happily go for that.
Qualifying for the champions league would certainly propel us towards our goal quicker than the other revenue streams mentioned will but this is the route the club have chosen, I just hope we don't get left behind by others with a more ambitious approach.

Not conveniently missing anything.
We were the seventh best side in the country, irrefutably so given we did it twice in a row. Goal difference pushing us out of sixth. How much closer do we need to be?
And what did we do from that position of power to really give it a go? Brought in a load of kids on loan or big fees and a right back. Opportunity gone and it could be many years before we are that close again, but at least we might get 50 million for Silva one day and that is what matters.
Watches the Morocco game and thought Saiss was outstanding. Missed a good chance just before HT with a glancing header at the near post. Had another header just before the end that went over the bar. Dominated aerial balls and very solid in a rare right sided position.
Disappointed at Ghana, who had a lot of good players, but failed to deliver. Better side won (1-0).
Yup, 7th twice and all with a small squad. 8th so far this season with 5 players out injured.
Are you ever satisfied cinci?
Yes Cinci, and what have the clubs below us been doing? Some spending 100's of millions, and where has it got them?
As for Silva, if he is now worth 50 million, that is some excellent work by Wolves.

What is Bruno thinking here, the guy is crazy going directly against an old fella in Florida.
Cinci,a month ago, you were saying it will be a nothing season, finishing somewhere between 11th, and 15th.
Now you are talking about Europe, your mind is like a bag of cats. all over the place.
And guess what, we are challenging for Europe, We might fall short, but a hell of a lot better than anything we have done under any other owner.
I think what Cinci is saying is with a little bit of sensible investment (which you advocate Amiga) in the right areas, ie centre mid, CB and or possibly striker, we would be in a better position to progress beyond 7th/8th.
The club are in a position to do this (under PL FFP rules) should they wish but are choosing to be very cautious with transfer funds.
This makes some sense from the point of view of the pandemic situation, and the desire of Fosun for the business to be more self sustaining but frustrating for fans who want to see us push on rather than hover just below where the real money is.
Its a balance of on one hand continuing to consolidate, get clarity on FFP going forward and avoid another UEFA breach (which would probably be a transfer ban) or spend with no guarantee of return and if we qualified for Europe, almost certainly flirt with UEFA's prohibitive restrictions.
The club have chosen the cautious option which on balance is probably the right one, however I do think that there are only so many windows we can let pass by before we start to see a deterioration. I really think we're close to the tipping point where our better players will want to see some quality added to squad to help them progress their careers with the club. Otherwise they will be more tempted to succumb to offers from elsewhere.
OldGold I know exactly what Cinci is saying, I have no problem with the club spending whatever they like in the transfer market, as long as it adds value.
Spending doesn't guarantee anything, but it is part of the equation, if done wisely then you make progress, spending poorly you go backwards.
If we sign someone in January great, I'm sure the way the club are operating, it will be the right deal for the club. If they try to sign people, but walk away because the deal isn't right, then I applaud the club for having a clear vision.
We are not going backwards, Sa, Ait Nouri, Mosquera have all come in, two are superb pieces of business, Mosquera injuries mean we will have to wait to see.
Then we have Trincao, who for some reason people seem to rate? That sounds solid business to me. Villa on the other hand spend 100 million, and I wouldn't say they have got anywhere close to the same value for money.
It is not about how much you spend, it is about how wisely, and if you take a step back, you will see Wolves are pretty much nailing it in the transfer market.
