Nobody as yet come up with as yet with a workable solution to control illegal entry to the UK, plenty of blame being chucked about that's the easy bit, we cannot have an open door policy it's not sustainable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There were a range of multilateral (EU) and bilateral (France) arrangements/procedures/protocols which helped manage the situation. Some more efficient than others.
The Government abandoned them (such as the Dublin 3 regulation, europe wide, real time biometric, processing databases etc) without firstly replacing them with new measures.
They also stopped all other legal routes to the UK for asylum seekers, creating the bottleneck in the channel.
And to mitigate they introduced the Nationalities and Borders bill to criminalise those seeking refugee status as well as those (such as the RNLI) trying to assist those in peril at sea. As well as bringing in measures to prevent asylum seekers accessing legal aid.
They also threw £53m at France to help manage the situation after realising having a treaty in place (with legal obligations on both sides) maybe wasn't the worst thing in the world after all.
In short, whatever your opinion on those crossing the channel, the government has made the situation exponentially worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely criminal seeing the French polis watch as flimsy, over-crowded boats take to the water as the gangmasters make off with the money. Not even a call to whatever French organisation looks after coastal safety. They are complicit. But then if you look at the list of company nationalities ignoring the sanctions supposed to be on Russia this will come as no surprise.

So how are Australia getting away with it?
Does anyone have an answer to the question
What do we do with all the young men who want to come to England for a better life.
As opposed to people fleeing for their lives.
eg Ukranians.
I don't, but I know Rwanda isn't the answer. It maybe for us, but certainly isn't for them.
If we were in the EU we could share them out between us, but we are not.
The best I can come up with is that first we single out the English speaking ones. The others no entry.
Then allow them in, if they are qualified try to find work that needs that qualification.
If unqualified they have to work where needed, currently on the land, for ,let's sat two years and then they can find a job of choice.
It's bloody difficult, we can't have people living here on benefits for years, never having paid a penny into the system.
But we also have to be humane.

I find it strange people say we have lost our caring identity as a nation, when the reason most refugees pass through other EU states to get here is because we have the most generous benefit system.
Genuine asylum seekers should always be handled on a case by case basis but we cannot endorse a system where refugees refuse to seek refuge in EU countries because it's more beneficial to come here.
It isn't about race it's about a generous benefit system being stretched to the point it can no longer help the people it's intended to aid.
I've never understood why a refugee isn't made to claim in the first EU nation they touch soil on, bar a specific reason they need to come to the UK. If there was some sort of charter between nations it'd be far fairer in my view.

And you could argue that the desire to risk your life and spunk your life savings / family borrowings amounts to an addiction to reach the UK. Sounds a lot like drug taking TBH.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Over simplified analogy. Very easy to from the comfort of your own home, safe in the knowledge you don't have to experience what these people experience.
People who travel thousands of miles do so out of desperation, to leave a war torn country, to leave poverty to start afresh in a "safe haven"
Drug use is addiction and the other is not. Let's not conflate them!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not intended. They are both unsolvable problems. No conflation.

Rwandan spokeswoman on Sky just confirmed that the new deal between the UK and Rwanda will break international law, as those processed and found to have a valid claim won’t be able to return to the UK and will be settled in Rwanda.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She’s also just said that “Human Rights Watch can say what they say, but it doesn’t mean it’s the truth.”
Oh dear

Simply exporting the issue to another country rather than coming up with a solution to crack down on illegal human trafficking.
This government can't stoop any lower.
Down to the courts now to challenge and defeat this stupid plan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair it’s a bit like coming up with a solution for illegal drug taking. There ain’t one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two separate issues
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and no. Two markets with insatiable demand and criminals willing to make money out of that. That the end product is different is largely irrelevant.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two separate root causes of the issues
Migration - motivation? Leaving war torn country. Escape poverty, etc
Drugs - satisfy addiction
I agree the black market satisfies a demand. I'm talking about tackling roots cause of migration generally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Immigration and human trafficking are also two separate issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The International Criminal Court’s prosecutor has said that the Aussie policy is “cruel, inhuman, and degrading”, confirmed that it is unlawful under international law, and said that it forms the basis of a crime against humanity.

I think Arsenal should take the bulk of the blame here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair. Specifically Arteta - since he lost key players, he's losing his nerve a bit and sending asylum seekers to Rwanda seems like the sort of 'left of field' tactic he might try.
