Reckon that since his time in the USA Rooney had a long-term plan of getting involved in a club with a dream team of Kirchner, Cook and Stretford. Once it was clear that was not going to happen I rhink he let it be known he would not be staying but it was kept quiet for fear of what it would do to the fans and the whole atmosphere. Fans have been on the brink mentally and it might have genuinely pushed some over the edge in my opinion. I think that explains the timing, so that the blow is greatly softened. Clowes must have known. Maybe Rosenior knew and has been given the nod. I agree that Rosenior and Davies might be a grreat fit right now. Ian Evatt might be another possibility.

Well logically could we continue to pay his reputed £100k pw in L1 ??
Liam + Curtis I'd guess but Dyche fits well....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very much my thoughts. 100k a week pays the wages of 10/20 players in L1.
Billy Davies is free.......
I'll get me coat

This is as spot on as it gets.
On reflection, good fecking rid.
Meanwhile Lancs need 23 off last 2 overs.........
Scrimshaw won it at the death
If that is the case then Mr Rooney has a lot to answer for, especially if that's the reason Quantuma kept turning down legitimate bids, that could have avoided taking us to the brink.
The heroism of last year rings a little hollow if Quantuma were playing second fiddle to Wayne's business plan at the expense of our clubs future. The players effort aside obviously.
From Mel, to the EFL, to Quantuma there has to be a movie, inquest or urban guerilla movement as a result of this farce, surely.
Agree 2W but not sure there is anything to be gained by an inquest. 'Tis done. Let's see what the future holds. Exciting isn't it!
Urban guerilla movement then ?
A new start, Heb.
No manager, no players, but at least we have a ground
He's so militant Heb. <>
I'd love to move on but feel like some heads should roll, in a loving, compassionate way obviously. Not waking every morning to check for a pulse, will be a nice change though.
I was told from the start that Quantuma were doing Morris's bidding and that for him it was all about the stadium. I don't think Rooney held any sway over Quantuma. Maybe it will all come out. We deserve to know the truth after what we have been put through and I'm not ready to say oh well it's all in the past now.
Some good sports journalist should write a truthful book on the whole sorry affair leaving no stone unturned and sparing no-one.
Meanwhile Curtis believes Rosenior should be given the job as our next manager.
I do believe Curtis wants to stay, in what capacity is up in the air, coming days again will be interesting.
You're not kidding Igor. We had hoped that if the club was saved and Rooney was staying that a fair few of the squad would sign new contracts. That is all up in the air now. If Clowes is going to buy the club with neither of those things going to happen then he is one brave boy and I tip my hat to him.
So many suggestions for a new manager, many of them ignoring the fact that any new owner will be operating under a strict EFL-imposed business plan which can hardly contemplate Derby paying compensation to another club for a manager etc.
So it could only be Rosenior, Curtis, or someone at present out of work, eg, (I believe) Atkins, Lambert, Warnock, Mowbray. There may well be others like King Billy but none of them (except maybe Mowbray or Warnock) would inspire me with any confidence.
OR there may be some other young would-be manager out there who has just hung up his boots and is on the look-out but we need some experience at least.
Any thoughts on who could be available without the need to pay compensation?

Sean Dyche ??? Paul Cook who had achieved promotion x3 times from lower leagues is back at Chesterfield I believe. I think we need stability ATM so it could be we go with Liam / Curtis. I don't know. We're at rock bottom now and we really need someone with experience who can build the club. So as much as I'd like Liam / Curtis to be given a chance I doubt they have the experience to build the club up.
We couldn't afford Rooney now anyway so let's forget about him.
If Sean Dyche fancies a challenge I'd go for him.... UTR
Find it slightly strange that fans are suggesting Sean Dyche. He's been a PL manager for several years, would want to be challenged at the highest level and has recently said he's willing to work overseas too.
We're a L1 side with very little money, realistically could we afford someone like Sean Dyche?
Given his experience of the lower leagues and promotions should we be considering Kenny Jackett? He got Wolves promoted from L1 when they went through their torrid spell ( double relegation I believe) and has promotion success with Millwall and Swansea in the past.
So as Noddy Holder sang it's Goodbye tu Wayne.
Gudbye t’Wayne, gudbye t’Wayne
He’s a dark horse, see if he can
Gudbye t’Wayne, gudbye t’Wayne
Painted up like a fancy young man
Can’t see it catching on.
I should imagine Rosenior has some sort of affinity with the squad, so I would give it to him. cheers Wayne đĽđĽđĽ

Definitely, will cost less than recruiting a new manager and promote someone from within to his assistant. How much money did Morris "spaff" against the wall hiring and firing, although I think he made a profit on Rowett and Lampard.
I'm sorry Rooney has gone and I'm sorry my old favourite for manager, Warburton has gone as assistant at West Ham, he would have been a good choice.
I think I'd give Rosenior a chance with Davies as assistant. However Colin and his brother Mowbray would do a decent job.
I'm not looking forward to the coming season at all, it wouldn't surprise me if we don't end up in League 2 cuz it will be so difficult to get enough players in.
I understand that we all have differing opinions. It's what makes Football interesting though isn't it.
I'm wondering initially what pushed Rooney's button to go NOW, when we've been in the proverbial ever since he'd been with us. With seemingly light at the end of the tunnel the timing just seems strange. Its said when people do things there's the "reason that they give"....and the "Real Reason"....so although he may have said the job needed new blood I wonder if he has something else in the pipeline. As I said yesterday we couldn't afford his wages anyway so it is what it is. It's just that I do recall him saying last season that "he's not a quitter"....when in fact he's just quit. Anyway, water under the bridge. Despite the good memories of him, they are just that....memories.
I still think that as much as I like Liam and Curtis as Managers I feel they dont have enough experience to pull this club together. So as much as I hate to say it someone like Warnock....or even Pulis would be ok to stabilise us and get us out of L1....certainly for a couple of years. I'd love to see us playing "The Derby Way"....but will that get us out of L1 ????
The new owner of the ground is a property developer. Should no sale go ahead, then he has a prime site for doing more of what has made him.
Rooney leaving is a bad sign, for he was prepared to stay as long as there was a good chance of Derby surviving. He knows it's over.
Premier League clubs (my own included) don't give a hoot about anybody. When the dirty six leave - along with Newcastle - the game will either have to revert to 1970's level wages or collapse for good.
