Pulis; Jackett; not for me!
After a bad night's "sleep" and time to calm down I'm now OK with Rooney going. For some odd reason he had tied his continued tenure to CK becoming owner which was pretty strange really. Also strange is his timing and just clearing off without giving Clowes a chance to explain his vision (assuming Clowes feels confident of becoming owner.) If DCFC were paying his wages then they cannot really afford that sort of commitment in League 1. (However I have always believed 32 Red were paying him under some sort of sponsorship wheeze.) I agree with Terry that Rooney's stated reason for leaving is a smokescreen and there will be no surprise in this part of Chicago if he is soon managing a Prem team.
I still feel that Rosenior is the only viable option given his standing within the club and his knowledge of all things DCFC. He is not greatly experienced but, hey, Blackpool obviously rated him to a degree.
He’s the only viable option if we want the fastest possible start with recruitment as soon as the green light is given. He will have knowledge of Rooney’s targets etc. However he obviously won’t have the same ‘pull’ as Rooney. Yes he’s not experienced but neither was Rooney and he was originally recruited as Cocu’s assistant so he must have something about him. And what experienced managers will really want to come to Derby at the moment?
And assuming he still wants the team to play the same way then it really should be him.
Assuming he wants it I think is the big question. He does most of the coaching and imagine Rooney will have something lined up and would want Rosenior as head coach.
I think promoting from within is a good model, works for Ajax but think RoRo might have their eyes on bigger things.
Which leaves Bucko and Wassall duking it out.
Roos has left to go to Aberdeen.
Maybe a return of the Nigel.

No complaints from me on that one.
Not for me. Might bring 666 back
Crikey, you seem to like my suggestion. I was expecting to get slaughtered.
Hope Nigel gets some young, keen, go ahead training staff and I hope he takes Ben Stokes' attitude and ATTACKS.<happy days>
No, No, Not Nigel! Good at spotting talent but not at managing it.
Everybody has their own opinion, but he did no wrong here before, did great at Burton, and doing good at Mansfield.
We've had much worse than Nigel in the past, and theres worse than him in management in the league now.

A glowing reference, UT
Nigel Clough kept us in the championship while getting rid of the high earners signed by Davies and Jewell. He then for very little outlay built the best team we have had since the days of Jim Smith. McClaren reaped the benefit of that team, and then undid all Clough's good work by destroying the financial stability with poor signings. Subsequent managers continued that process until we find ourselves in our present position.

Apparently Voldemort was directly responsible for several of our signings?
I'd happily have Young Nigel back. Solid bloke, used to spending nothing
Apparently Rooney quit for Colleen, must be true, it's in the Sunday papers. Wants to spend more time with his family. Perhaps that's the reason why Vardy keeps playing.
What Nigel Clough did for the club during his tenure on a shoestring budget was absolutely fantastic. The majority of players he signed ( Keogh, Bryson, Martin, Forsyth, Russell) continued to play for the club well after Clough's departure and you can't really say that about the other managers signings ( looking at you Lampard!)
However, I don't agree with Clough being the right call. We'll be going from Rooney's style of management to one that belongs in the 90s early 00s quite possibly. I don't see Clough and Bielik having the best of relationships with Nigel quite possibly suggesting ' he goes back where he came from.' Ward and others love Clough but made it clear his training style belongs in a different generation.
I'm not convinced Rosenior is the right call but much rather give him and Davies an opportunity with somebody senior to turn to for advice. We certainly do need someone in charge who can get good quality youth to come in and get the right calibre of players in. Rosenior and Davies I'd imagine can identify the right type of character required.
Rumors that Rooney was looking to get Conor Hourihane in, a player I rate I really highly, would be a move in the right direction, but as we're still in admin limbo who knows if that would have been possible or affordable? ( Plus not the most credible source)
At thirty seven years of age , if appointed would he become DCFC's youngest manager?
It looks like Clowes needs help to spread the burden

If anyone is interested in, and has time to spare, the 4 day format, Sussex v Derbyshire starts st 11.0am.

The only redeeming aspect of last season was the amazing unity created between team, management & fans.
My main concern about NC, is that he would turn us back into a 52:48 community
We must remember Ang that we got relegated, whatever unity we'd got. I think we had a good team spirit when Nigel was manager, but he was too cautious.
To think we had a midfield of Hendrick, Bryson, Will and Eustace, not to mention Martin, Ward and Russell up front. As I type those names, my mouth waters like when I'm looking at a nice pint of Bass.
