People seem to forget the financial advantage Utd had on every other club during the 90s and 00s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
presumably they forget it because it isn't true
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely.
Just another convenient myth.
United once lined up against an LFC team that (with the exception of Keane) cost less in total than Stan Collymore.
SAF won titles with prudent manipulation of the buying of uncelebrated, but epl proven and experienced, players from lesser clubs (leeds, spurs, arsenal, everton etc) and the odd insertion of some dynamism from the more competitive european leagues + a sprinkling of academy players.
No one will match what his epl record proves.
However, Guardiolas record outside the epl is very special.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's social inside the EPL too, and that's where the similarities end because Fergie did nothing outside the UK.

It could be argued that Pep has underachieved at Barca, Bayern and City considering the resources available to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pep has already equalled Fergie's CL record and has won 10 league titles. He will comfortably surpass Fergie by the time he's done.
And Pep has proven himself outside of his comfort zone league and proven that his style works against all other styles. Fergie struggled with European style football as his mediocre CL record shows, and Pep spanked him conclusively every time they met. How would Fergie have fared in Spain for example? We'll never know, it's a question mark, but with Pep we know that he succeeded there already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SAF didn't have Messi.

The mark of immortality is to have a phenomemum named after you like changing the rules of the game and making a match last until you've won it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it was amazing how Fergie redefined injury time so that only one team could attack and score in it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When it's one way traffic and opposition hanging on for dear life then an extra 5 minutes in top of the usual would make a whole lot of difference. You know this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it does. We got the extra minutes because of opposition teams time wasting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only United's opponents did time wasting? If it was to counter time wasting then the refs didn't get the memo where it should apply in all games, not just United games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they did.it was fair for every team. But if we were behind or level near the end, we would be camped near their area, and so the other team resorted to time wasting

We'll never know but I wonder how Fergie would have fared with FFP and VAR?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
FFP would never have been an issue for SAF. No idea why you think it would. Remember, SAF always found some gems in the transfer market as well as making expensive signings.
As for VAR, we may well have won one more CL if we had VAR and the world would have no idea who Jose Mourinho is.
As for the VAR in general we have probably had just as many goals awarded to us by VAR as we have had disallowed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie found these gems because he was not competing with clubs who all had huge spending power like it is today.

Imagine being so bitter about United’s success that you still have to push the idea that refs helped them out with added on time. That's definitely not a myth.
Fergie really did hurt these people.

You are correct

Yep. Thanks for coming.

I doubt we'll ever have 'Pep Time'.
The mark of immortality is to have a phenomemum named after you like changing the rules of the game and making a match last until you've won it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it was amazing how Fergie redefined injury time so that only one team could attack and score in it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When it's one way traffic and opposition hanging on for dear life then an extra 5 minutes in top of the usual would make a whole lot of difference. You know this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it does. We got the extra minutes because of opposition teams time wasting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only United's opponents did time wasting? If it was to counter time wasting then the refs didn't get the memo where it should apply in all games, not just United games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they did.it was fair for every team. But if we were behind or level near the end, we would be camped near their area, and so the other team resorted to time wasting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what happens to everyone. Are you being serious or pulling my leg?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Serious. We got added time the same way Liverpool and every other team did

People seem to forget the financial advantage Utd had on every other club during the 90s and 00s

But the classic City 4-3 game had just seen a Bellamy equaliser in the 90th minute. Momentum ought to have been with City really.

In all Ferguson’s years at United, he never had such a huge group of world class players just sat on the bench.
Whether it can be proved or not, Man Cheaty have broke the rules to get where they are now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Teddy Sheringham, Dwight York, Andy Cole and Ole Gunner Solskjær says hi.
How many clubs were stacked with these types of quality during Fergie's reign.

Did Fergie ever get 100 points in a league season btw? Not sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie never got a domestic treble either.
