Did Fergie ever get 100 points in a league season btw? Not sure.

Fergie never got a domestic treble either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
apparently his biggest managerial regret is that we had to settle for the cl in 99, when what he desperately wanted was the league cup trophy

In fairness, the League Cup only became a major trophy a couple of months ago.

All managers put pressure on referees, you must see that
Wouldn’t take anything from him Neville’s chops as meaningful

How about Clattenburg then? Came out and stated that United were given favourable decisions due to Fergie's intimidation?

Or Dermot Gallagher?

I'm pretty sure United fans of that era would have seen it with their own eyes, it was clear to anyone that went to matches.

You'd have to be blind, or a United fan, to deny this fact. It was ridiculous.

United fans denying favours from refs.

United fans denying financing advantage.

What else is new?

Liverpool still have some of the Coutinho money left?

If City win the treble it won't even be taken seriously. Think Lance Armstrong and his tour de France win's for example.

People will always know they cheated to achieve it.

It would forever be called 'The Tainted Treble' by true football fans. Their parade would be laughable too... 1500 stood outside House Of Fraser on Deansgate again

We will beat them at Wembley anyway to stop it.

You barely beat Brighton at Wembley.

Yep. We'll use it to win the league and CL again while you continue to twiddle your thumbs. Year 1

We've seen this movie before.

That's OK, the FA Cup became a minor one yesterday so the universe is balanced again.

No? It's not a minor one to me.

Fergie’s most recent contribution to his legacy was to phone Ronaldo begging him not to join City.

I find it staggering that a Liverpool fan would complain about referees being influenced by Ferguson.

Have they any knowledge of the 70’s?

Embarrassing hypocrisy.

And with that... Pep surpasses Sir Alex Ferguson.

Pep didn't need a decade or however long it took Sir Alex to win 3 in a row....

Not really, Man City were outplayed in both finals they won. Man Utd dominated both finals under SAF that we won.

This isn’t a proper treble. It’s a tainted treble.

115 charges. Fake revenue. Invented sponsors.

Tainted.

It's better than United's treble. City battered Bayern and Real. United fluked the CL and were nowhere near the best team in Europe.

posted on 10/6/23

Man Utd had more possession same shots more shots on target and more corners than Bayern Munich and way more big chances. People some reason think because Bayern hit the woodwork twice that they were unlucky when Man Utd had so many point blank chances. If there was an XG for the 1999 CL final Man Utd XG probably was 4 to Bayern Munich 1.

Sort of reminds me of when Chelsea won it in 2012. There worst side in that period won it.

posted on 10/6/23

I wouldn't say United 99 were the worst United team of that period.
