It helps them that the Mayor is called Khan - they can be even more outraged.

What would be your infrastructure plan for this policy? Let's say 90,000 people wanted to drive to Wembley for a match in their individual cars? Give me your plan. Within a few steps you might come to the conclusion that there may need to be fewer people driving, and fewer cars on the road.
I think what you mean is not that everybody should be allowed to drive everywhere and any time they want (as it has been demonstrated above that this would not be feasible), I think you mean that YOU specifically should be allowed to.
If you cannot, because of congestion, be angry at yourself and others who feel they have the right to drive everywhere for every type of trip purpose.
You are not stuck in traffic. You ARE traffic.

And even if it was only central London, this affects a lot of people. Small business owners in areas such as building will need to pay this every day, as well as compensate any of their staff who have to pay it.

I long ago gave up driving, but walking in built up areas, and having to breathe in all the toxic air from cars clogging up the roads, has been bad for my health and millions of Londoners for years. I don`t live in London now, and notice the quality of air where I live is much better, but I do like to visit a fair bit, and cleaner air down in London gets a big thumbs up from me.

I don’t know much on any exemptions or grants which is what should be used to alleviate issues like this, but there are quite a lot of reasons I could think of. Covering Greater London is now covering a massive area of millions of inhabitants of all types of demographics, who don’t fit neatly in a box.
In context of a cost of living crisis, those who are using an old car out of affordability may find themselves in a very hard place.

The whole of Biggin Hill is walkable within 15 minutes. Or are you meaning getting out of Biggin Hill to other places? Are you suggesting that there should be services in Biggin Hill that are within 15 minutes of everyone? Or what would be your solution? Better public transport is definitely the solution so I would hope that it would follow. Although it shouldn't follow. It should be improved first. The boundary does seem a bit extreme. But some outlying settlements being a bit on the controversial side does not mean the whole thing is ridiculous. It isn't black and white like that.

It's not a case of need - the MX-5 is just for fun days out in the summer. Both cars combined do less than 1500 miles a year, so don't actually pollute all that much in reality.

Give me your reasons for driving into the centre of London and why you need to above other people?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not central London anymore you moron, could have taken you about 15 seconds to check that before making a fool of yourself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just using the centre as an example. Feel free to give me your reasons why you MUST drive around these urban locations with great public transport, services within walking distance, in an old car?
Is it just because you want to, to the detriment of other people's health? Or is there another reason?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t know much on any exemptions or grants which is what should be used to alleviate issues like this, but there are quite a lot of reasons I could think of. Covering Greater London is now covering a massive area of millions of inhabitants of all types of demographics, who don’t fit neatly in a box.
In context of a cost of living crisis, those who are using an old car out of affordability may find themselves in a very hard place.

They should have come up with some sort of scheme to help people to comply.

Agreed, and the fact schemes are needed means of course there’ll be people to consider on how it affects, now it’s spread to Greater London, using the current rules.

You ever actually been to a London suburb? Trains are great but pretty much all of them go into London and back out again. The buses are unreliable, incredibly slow and billow more crap into the air than 99.9% of cars.
Go to Biggin Hill and try and get around without a car. You can’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole of Biggin Hill is walkable within 15 minutes.

I just think the £12.50 charge is excessive
£5 is more reasonable

This
And even if it was only central London, this affects a lot of people. Small business owners in areas such as building will need to pay this every day, as well as compensate any of their staff who have to pay it.
The lack of public consultation on this has been a disgrace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah, business is not the concern of the swampy cvnt marxists despite the fact that private business is what pays for all of this, all of them.

Is that because you think people would be more willing to pay £5? How might this conflict with the main objective of the policy?

I checked our cars and thought it odd that my wife's 2.0L 208 MX-5 is OK, but her 1.4L 1999 Clio isn't, despite emitting far less CO2 and getting loads more miles to the gallon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does your wife need two cars??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a case of need - the MX-5 is just for fun days out in the summer. Both cars combined do less than 1500 miles a year, so don't actually pollute all that much in reality.
