On a separate note we have our own Brexit vote here in Australia this weekend to decide if we’re gonna be a very racist country of a mildly racist country.

The Voice vote to give indigenous people a permanent voice in parliament. Sadly the racists look like they may win and ‘No’ will be the outcome.

Rupert Murdoch and his misinformation network has worked a treat sadly.

I was only there for a year, but at the time there was a lot of noise about giving Aboriginals more opportunity.

I met quite a few, one spat in my drink, one called me a Captain Cook Motherf*cker. Another I worked with and she was lovely, seemed very low on confidence and downtrodden.

"However, I am in support of a two state solution."

Not sure how that's even possible now, unless Israel decide to give up a lot of their powers and land.

Silver! You can help with my query. Why do Celtic like Palestine and Rangers like Israel? Never bothered to look into it.

Tbh it was pretty scary as I'd only been in Cairns for a few days, and the country a couple of weeks. An Aussie next to me had a go at the lady who spat in my drink, she wasn't coherent.

Not sure if it's true but was told by a few people they can't tolerate alcohol.

Alcohol destroyed the aboriginals as badly as smallpox destroyed native Americans.

Very sad to see and even now when there’s a great chance to undo some of the harm done to them, it looks like 60% of the country this Saturday are going to continue to deny them a voice.

The fact that you have Liberal politicians supporting the oppression of Palestinians and stripping their human rights tells you how corrupt the political scene is.

Only when there is a political shift in the world will this problem be solved. But it's coming, nothing lasts forever.

I am old enough and wise enough to know there are evils on both sides of this endless war between Israel and Palestine. It's definitely not good vs evil from either perspective.

What I do know though is we should stay the hell out of it. Israel actually have a bigger army than we do in the UK. They don't really need our help.

The only involvement we should have is working with the UN to try and find some middle ground and peace which admittedly looks a lost cause no doubt. That should be the extent of our involvement though.

The answer - or at least a good portion of it - is the one that very nearly came to pass at Taba back in 2000, before (as usual) Israel called it off.

The US & Israel have, at every step, blocked all meaningful and serious efforts for some kind of negotiated settlement. That this isn’t common knowledge is a perfect illustration of the inadequacy of our media landscape.

For as long as all prospects of a settlement of some kind are firmly off the table and, indeed, actively opposed, blocked & undermined, the risks of violent reprisals (“the accumulated evil of whole&rdquosuch as what’s happening currently are sharply & predictably exaggerated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Israel accepted the two state solution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

With conditions that rendered it completely unacceptable and meaningless to any serious person. No self-respecting Palestinian could have accepted the terms outlined in the late 80's & throughout the 90's.

Like I said, the closest framework was broadly established at Taba, and binned by Israel.

I'm no fan of Hamas obviously, but some of the revisionism on them is staggering. Pretty much from their inception in 1988, they were putting forward settlement proposals to Israel, all blocked.

It's also amusing how much stock gets put on their 1988 'charter', which was drafted whilst they were under serious attack, by a very small number of people. Israeli apologists love to point to it, but in reality it's totally meaningless, serving only to deflect from the diplomatic & military record which paints a very different picture.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant: "I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly."

This is what what we’re dealing with lads.

How would the UK react to the I.R.Aresurfacing and killing 600 of our citizens?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully not by besieging the whole of the Republic of Ireland, ordering air strikes on Dublin, and implying that Irish people as a whole are sub-human.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, we can’t besiege them, but we’d fight to keep control of any of our home nations.

When war is declared, siege tactics are to be expected.

“. If you want true equality of opportunity, you need to ensure a baseline of equality in the quality of primary and secondary education.”

I totally agree.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But you don't agree with more aggressively redistributive taxation that would address this inequality of opportunity. Nor with positive discrimination as a means to redress the balance at a later juncture.

Not going to get into who is right or wrong, but again Britain played a part in this on-going war. How people in this country have the audacity to attack others is bewildering to me.

On this matter, what has happened recently, attacking young people at a festival, showering bullets at them is nothing short of an absolute disgrace it does not matter who you support in this fight. Innocent civilians just going by their day, mainly young and their whole lives ahead of them. Horrible scenes!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's because the people saying it haven't attacked anybody.
