The fact that you have Liberal politicians supporting the oppression of Palestinians and stripping their human rights tells you how corrupt the political scene is.

Only when there is a political shift in the world will this problem be solved. But it's coming, nothing lasts forever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not correct.
The shift will happen when Hamas chose to build schools rather than bombs.
Putting this on anyone other than Hamas will only prolong the crisis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Except not only does the conflict pre-date Hamas, your already fatally flawed analysis doesn't help to explain Israel's atrocities in the West Bank given Hamas cannot be blamed in that area.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've never read about Israel dropping bombs at West Bank during a military conflict. Sure they had clashes withe Israeli police but it has never been at this scale.

Hamas has brought misery to Gaza since they came to power. First they eliminated every known member of the Fatah movement. Then they stopped having elections.

Their chatter calls for the destruction of ALL Jews. This may not mean much to you but the event of Saturday has shown that they would stop at nothing to achieve their aim.
They will be deserving of everything that comes their way in the coming days.
One thing is certain. Hamas will no longer exist in Gaza after this conflict.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Honestly this is just tiring so I'll do one more response:

1. Israel wants large parts of the West Bank - it has value. It's not going to blow it to smithereens, so it's military rule over the WB is different in nature to its collective punishment of Gaza but awful all the same. You can literally read and listen to testimony from dissenting former IDF soldiers via the organisation Breaking the Chains (since called Breaking the Silence, if I recall correctly) if you want to actually learn about it.

2. Gaza and the people of Gaza have no value to Israel. Unlike in South African apartheid, Gazans are not a necessary part of the workforce. South Africa wasn't bombing the Bantustans and slums for precisely that reason; blacks were not wanted, but they were *needed* - they constituted a significant majority of the work force. Gazans are neither wanted nor needed.

3. As I've already pointed out, there have been offers on the table from Hamas *for decades* that Israel has consistently ignored and blocked. Furthermore, virtually every ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has been broken by Israel. Hamas are not beyond negotiating with, as much as Israeli propaganda would have the world believe.

None of this is a defence of the militant wing of Hamas or its actions over the weekend, which apart from being a horror show in their own right, will elicit an even worse horror show upon Gaza, as is always the case. Ultimately Gazans will die quietly, silently in their current conditions, or they will resort to extreme acts of retaliation and retribution against those who keep them trapped in an unliveable open air prison, harming many innocent people along the way, as we've seen.

Remove Hamas. This only has any chance of ending if Hamas get removed from the equation.

Hamas are a symptom. Removing them won't change anything. Before this, one has to see how many Palestinians kolęd by Settler Terrorists, IDF, and with little to no repercussions to Palestinian civilians being killed. On top of that, the Palestinians are arrested under military laws when they defend themselves against Settler attacks. This blind support of Israel and turning a blind eye to war crimes and apartheid will continue. The only ones to blame are those that kill innocent civilians and those that enable them.

Depends what you mean by removing them. If Israel flatten Gaza and take full control of the region it changes quite a bit.

It's long ago that I read the history of Israel.
But I had it in my head that the UK didn't want a separate state. It was the US that agreed to it, under Truman?
I'm probably wrong but I don't remember it being our fault, for once.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The league of nations suggested two separate states drawn along the lines of religion just like India and Pakistan. The Jews accepted but the Arabs kicked against it. This led to the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948.

Then the Nakba happened when Arabs encouraged other Arabs living in Israel to leave so they don't get caught up in the cross fire of another planned offensive. Again, the Jews won the war. The Arabs who left unfortunately could not return anymore.

If any anyone comes across a Palestinian, ask them about their preferred solution. Majority will tell you they want the extermination of the Jews.

If you assume the Jews don't belong in Palestine and hence, should leave the land entirely, then we should apply the same principle to Arabs occupying North African lands, Caucasians in Australia, New Zealand etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would any people accept an outside organisation dividing their land and their homes and then giving it to another people?

Resistance is the moral obligation to any invader.

I'm of North African heritage, we are all of mixed Arab, Berber and Black. Nobody is purely one race over there, so unless you're planning on chopping people up into thirds and then deporting chunks of them, that's the dumbest thing I've read this morning.

Muslims, Jews and Christians lived in peace in that region for literally hundreds of years before the zionist machine kicked in.

Good point. I doubt people in England would allow the Arab League to come in and split the country up by giving parts of it to a group who lived here 1000 years ago and accept such terms.

And I'm sure you could find multiple videos of the exact opposite too.

There's no side to be taken here. There's hatred and evil on both sides and anyone who says differently is either bias or a bleeding idiot.

The only thing we should be doing is trying to find a way to find peace which I grant is easier said than done.

First step should be complete and utter freedom for Palestinians. All human beings should be as free as you and me. That should open the way IMO.

It’s not about taking sides on good vs evil. It’s about balance of power and basic human rights.

Well go ahead and find such a video with such racist, nationalistic rhetoric.

The hatred of one is because of occupation, the other motivated by a far-right ideology—big difference.

I suppose you don't take a side in the Russia/Ukraine conflict either?

Just to say, that having lived and worked in the Middle East for quite a few years, and having friends and business associates of all persuasions, it was my impression that Hamas are generally not liked ,even hated by most.
I cannot believe the cretins on this board who are apologists for these evil people, perhaps they should go over there and take tea with them and talk to them ! .......but watch your back !

It is embarrassing isn't it. Not saying Israel are angels here, clearly they are not. But Hamas are a terrorist organisation that want blood and nothing else at all.

Have you seen what the IDS and right wing settler gangs have been doing for years? Away and fvk yourself if you think Hamas are the only terrorist group in this.
