Of course some people will tell the truth about religion. Whichever one it is.

Mamba, you know how we hear about the War on Christmas ad nauseam?
Did you know Christmas has only been banned in 2 non-communist countries?

“The fact that you put so much stress on it being Biden in the OP and in the earlier part of your article and argument made it seem like some kind of point-scoring exercise in a completely different political battlefield, which is probably why you found such little sympathy from many who are and for years most probably have been sympathetic with the Palestinian cause.”

Ioag, I am sorry to only take out this part of your comment, but do you not see that that in fact is point scoring in itself?

I can say with complete honesty that my thoughts on this would be no different if all this was going on on Trump’s watch. It’s just an unfortunate coincidence that I give Biden shiiit for plenty more than Palestine

This dates back to the Barbary pirates where an awful lot of American and Europeans were enslaved. Jefferson met with the tripolitan ambassador in 1786 and said ‘we’ve haven’t done anything to you, we have no quarrel with the Muslim world, we weren’t in the crusades, we weren’t in the war in Spain, why do you do this to us?

I’ll let you all research the response that was forthcoming.

Of course you won't expound because this your MO when you know you will be challenged of you come out and say whatever you're implying.

What is the point or aim of this comment? To show that the Muslims started it?

Barbary pirates were brutal criminals that do not represent Islam that used Islam to excuse their savage acts.

And what was Jefferson doing asking pirates why they were attacking. It's what pirates do. That's why they're pirates.

They did it for greedy, money and wealth, then used the Quran as an excuse. Sat Nav think it's a milestone moment in history that shows Muslims started it.

If this made Jefferson change his view or attitude towards Muslims and their lands then he was an idiot.

This story has always sounded like bullsheet to me.

Which they are and nothing you've said actually even comes close to countering that assertion. You just took the opportunity to have an anti muslim rant and used my comment as an excuse.

Please refrain from using me as an excuse for having these views. Nothing I say on here makes you believe anything or say anything or behave whichever way. You make all those decisions by yourself and then tell yourself someone else made you do it.

You're actually trying to imply the Barbary pirates caused all this? As always it's always the victims fault. Just like it's always been.

It's ok, Batman, I take that you largely agree with the remainder of my post.

Fwiw, with regard to the conflict in the Middle East, I would sooner any other Democrat ran for office, and preferably one from the left of the party, as on the right of it there have historically been way too many hawks who were in cahoots with the military-industrial complex.

I was only trying to convey how your article and opening posts came across. I honestly haven't had the time or will to go through every single page of this thread, much less your posting history on the topic during the Trump administration days.

Fwiw, although I was pleasantly surprised that Trump's was a comparatively* quiet tenure regarding U.S. involvement in international conflicts, he also did his bit to embolden Israel with the de facto recognition of Jerusalem as their capital and his blackmailing or strong-arming other Muslim states into recognising Israel with absolute disregard for the potential consequences to peoples elsewhere (e.g. recognising Morocco's illegal annexation of the Western Sahara).

posted on 10/1/24

I do agree with the remainder, just wanted to point that out.

I also appreciate a lot of what is going on in the world today is a butterfly effect from the previous regime. And in an ideal world, yes, the democrats put forward a more competent candidate for the next election.

I have been very vocal in my criticism of the Democrats putting Biden forward for a 2nd term as I genuinely believe it will lead to Trump getting a 2nd term instead

posted on 10/1/24

Interesting. I thought you were firmly in the Trump camp.

Idk why people keep saying that, I hate the priiick. I would have voted for Biden first time around (even though I knew he would be a disaster) just so we didn’t have to suffer 4 more years of Trump. But his tenure as president has been so bad that there’s a real possibility that will happen

posted on 10/1/24

I just looked it up and Trump is 7/5 favorite with the bookies, Biden 9/4 2nd fav

But it hasn’t been a bad tenure. He’s actually been a very solid president for 4 years. Certainly more than Trump was and the mid terms in the US showed they’re more than happy with how the Dems are going.

Robb I know that we are not allowed to criticise Biden for anything, ever, no matter what, so not going to bother with you.

Can you please answer my earlier question, if Trump was overseeing that massacre in Gaza, would you completely absolve him of blame?

Yeah. The best economic numbers in the world.
Lowest unemployment numbers ever.
Most jobs created.
Biggest wage raises for working class in forever.
Building bridges and highways that Reps who voted against are now trying to take credit for.
But Rogan, Brand, et al told you different.

297 comments and you don’t seem to get it. Gaza isn’t about Biden or Trump. Israel is a US protectorate and whoever is in charge will allow things like these to happen.

You are the one talking about his tenure and making judgements on it. What’s happening in the Middle East now has no bearing on his 4 years in charge as it would be the same under Trump or anyone else taking into account the US foreign policy dictates.

Indeed. But firstly I’m not absolving Biden of any responsibility. He’s a cant for being in charge of the US doing this and not stopping it. And the same would be true tor Trump. But it’s a US foreign policy decision that would be the case for pretty much any president in charge.

There’s plenty to attack Trump on domestically without me needing to blame him for US foreign policy decisions
