Signing of the Season

Only Hojlund has changed our fortunes. Buy not enough to be in this list.

Looking at the full list of transfers made this season it is hard to really pick out stand-out transfers.
One not mentioned yet who could turn out to be a long term great buy is Murillo at Forest. €3.5m and will probably be sold for a fair bit more quite quickly.

Joao Pedro
Pau Torres

Vicario
Palmer

All have a good shout.

Oops, read that wrong. Murillo cost €12m.

signing of the season.. has to be harry kane..

in one transfer he's completely transformed 2 teams..
not only has spurs gone from one-dimensional headless chicken style running football to a much more balanced, dominant, and aggresive style of play.
but at the same time.. he's transformed bayern munich from a perennial multiple trophies per season team.. to what look to be the traditional spurs style bottle-jobs.

Rice is quality but to say he's transformed Arsenal is rather OTT.

They basically have an almost identical goals for and goals against record to this time last year, but less points.

He has provided some consistency in terms of being available, unlike Partey, but he hasn't transformed Arsenal or their fortunes so far. If they stay in this sort of form instead of falling away like last season then he may well be instrumental to that but on all measures currently they're no better than last season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this but not sure there has been any signings this season that have transformed their team? My biggest argument with Rice would be that he has been one of the most consistent players in a team that's going for the title. We certainly wouldn't be in the position we are currently in if we didn't have him. Especially when you factor in that Partey, one of our better players from last season, has effectively missed the whole campaign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As fridge said, he's seemlessly replaced Partey, which is no mean feat, but at £100m thats what you kinda expected of him.

Spurs bias but I am amazed how good Vicario is for £17m, what a difference he has made and i would already put him as 3rd best in the league not that far behind the Brazillian duo.

Vicario
- Conceded more goals after 25 games than Spurs had at the same point last season. Also a place lower.
- Conceded 2 or more in 50% of games he has played in the league.
- Only 7th best defensive record in the league.
- Conceded twice as many as David Raya (3 games more).
- 11th best 'keeper in terms of clean sheets.

But we can't say Rice because on "all measures currently they're no better than last season" despite in most measures we are better.

Barkley’s a decent shout. He’s played his way back into England contention and given Luton a fighting chance of staying up.

Yeah but imagine where they’d be if they still had a past it Lloris. Probably below Chelsea.

all of this has been more on the style of play and rest of the team tbf

goalie hasnt done a lot wrong but for a few corners.

hes definitely saved spurs from some more damaging defeats, holding on to narrow wins and draws. below chelsea without him though, behave. think the start of the season was too strong for that

Again (certain Spurs fans) just list your own.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a shame and I am embarrassed to be associated to some of them. Fridge and Spurts love if and buts. Cringe.

Vicario has kept 5 cleans sheets all season. Not enough to be considered but worth a shout at a push.

Worst signing has to be Tonali, no? Eight games for £65m

What about Nkunku? Does he qualify? Bloke is more like a Chelsea pensioner.

Was thinking of doing a worst signing one.

Tonali is in with a shout purely on due diligence terms.

Caicedo is banter at that price, Lavia even worse, it’s hard to ignore Mount, Tielemans has completely flopped . Nkunku would be in the conversation for sure

OP hard to argue with any on your list.

I’d probably have Van De Ven instead of Torres personally.

Also think Cole Palmer should be listed.

Also worth a mention even though he is getting less minutes currently is Diaby at Villa. Udogie & Maddison at Spurs. Szoboszlai & Mac Allister at Pool. Ward-Prowse At West Ham. Kaminski at Luton also at a snipe.

I can’t wrap my head around udogie not being allowed as he was signed last season ?!

So he is immediately eliminated from any signing of the season in the prem debate …..weird

Him not being good enough so was loaned back out I read 😂…..it was a condition of the signing , nowt to do with not being good enough

Rice and Vicario for me anyway …..Rice is the new roy Keane , good for England he got that move

posted on 28/2/24

On a completely different note, my new favourite player to watch is Chelsea’s Disasi, he’s absolutely hilarious, goes mental celebrating every tackle/block/clearance/header he wins, once you notice it you can’t stop watching him

I know, right. Imagine someone not signed this season not being included for a debate on players signed this season. Hard to understand that a player signed last season is not signing of this season. Can't get my head around players signed in other seasons not being the signing of this season.
