I was wrong, lots of wickets falling to spinners. Harmer producing something close to his best with 3/9 from 9 overs and Surrey in a spin as Vaughan now has 6fer with Leach on 2 with Surrey collapsing from 196/3 to 228/8

We are now where we have struggled a bit of late with the Notts lower order batsmen at the crease. Let’s hope we can get them out quickly.

Well that was quick.

Porter and Harmer finding some form. A little too late to be in the championship race but it'd be nice to be the best of the rest.

I get to see a fair bit of the Essex games live on you tube. One of the BBC Essex commentators came out with an interesting rationale of Harmer when he bats a few months back.

He said that Harmer always takes an hour or so to get past ten runs and when he does that he usually goes past fifty.

Somerset have really messed this up here. From being 90 ahead with Surrey 8 down. They now find themselves only 50 ahead whilst being 4 (effectively 5) down themselves. Surrey will probably as good as wrap up the title today the way things are going.

On the Eagles, I didn't realise Hameed was captain for Notts now but good to see him putting in a bit of a rear guard with his team so far behind. Harmer getting runs may well have inspired his form with the ball. Yeah I feel like Swann was a bit like that. When he scored 50s you wonder why he didn't score them more often.

Essex docked 12pts for cheating...?

Probably from an early game where Kushi was found to have an oversize bat.

Snater's dibbly dobblies finish the game.

A massive nonsense but rules are rules. It might be why Khushi has been kept away from the first team. Seems a harsh punishment for both the player and the club but it is what it is.

Watching Surrey chase 221 in 76 overs but Sibley and Burns reaching 26 after 18 overs will be the kind of thing that makes the old test farts excited. A win will basically guarantee the title and given their could be more rain, I'm surprised they've not been a little bit more positive and gone at closer to 2 an over.

Obviously were going a bit too fast so have added 1 run in the last 2 overs.

It's a shame a draw suits Surrey as it keeps them 24 points ahead with 2 games to play although it's two tough games in Durham and Essex. Potts just took 14 wickets against Lancs and is a man on a mission given he was dropped for Josh Hull who has basically that many in his FC career

Because of the rest of the punishment I would have every batsmen check their bat with the umpire before they face their first ball.

The other thing, and I have not seen any mention of this so far is that having a bat that is wider by millimeters is as much a disadvantage to batsmen as it is an advantage.

Those feint knicks through to the keeper with the wider bat, that get you out, would likely miss a bat of the correct width.

12 point deduction really doesn't fit the crime in my opinion but then Declan Rice missed a game and a half because Veltman played him so Sport can be dumb some times.

Surrey have really messed this up by playing so negatively. They might still get a draw but I was sure they would win today even if Somerset added 50 more to the total. Sibley and Burns set the tempo and everyone has followed in trying to bat the day. Should have batted with more intent as its just allowed Somerset to get more men around the bat.

What a performance from Archie Vaughan, he's bowled a lot of overs for a part time spinner especially at 18 years old. Might well get a call up for the Pakistan series when Jack Leach inevitably gets some kind of injury/illness bless him.

Wow. You have to imagine Surrey winning that if they had tried to.

Got caught up with something so watched the last 15 minutes or so back when Roach came to the crease. Unbelievable stuff, Vaughan will get a lot of the headlines as will Banton for batting on one leg but Leach won the game there in that second innings. Foakes and Sibley were starting to look comfortable before he got them both out to get the collapse going. Then he finished it off with the wicket of Clark to break that stubborn 9th wicket partnership. He was superb. Come on you cider boys!

I honestly couldn't understand the approach from Surrey. 76 overs to chase 221 or whatever it was. I know it was turning and Surrey had a weakish batting line up despite Cam Steel batting down at 9. However the lack of intent from Sibley and Burns just invited pressure. As soon as Burns got out, they should have promoted Tom Curran to 3 to counter attack because Somerset could basically stick 6 or 7 men around the bat as even full tosses and short balls were just being patted down when they should have been smashed away for boundaries. Took the pressure completely off as Leach, Vaughan and even an over from Goldsworthy meant 70 overs of spin conceded only 75 runs. It was mad.

Yeah, seems like Burnsy completely fluffed his lines to be honest. He's usually a good tactical skipper but it's hard not to see it as a massive balls-up on his part.

It was a weak lineup as well to be fair. Lots of nothing from #3 downwards - several bats who can score on their day but more often than not are interchangeably mediocre.

That loss against Worcester and of course the 12 pts really crushed us.

Come on you cider boys.
