If the pitch isn't playable then it isn't playable.
The clubs outside Celtic and Rangers in this country are playing against a loaded deck and we have to just accept that there will be occasional problems.
The root of the problem is the number of people (me included) who choose to go and watch one of the big two every week instead of watching their local club. That's often rooted in religious bigotry.
After Celtic and Rangers decided that they wanted to keep all their gate money, the slow decline of the rest of the clubs was inevitable.
All that has lead to the schitshow of a league we have now. No point Celtic and Rangers fans complaining about it now.
We caused it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's like saying the rest of the league are to blame for how Rangers spent their money
There are set rules that all clubs playing in these leagues must adhere to....Dundee aren't, and if they don't have the cash to look after their pitch because they have spent it elsewhere...that's on them, no-one else
Of course it's understandable that there will be occasional problems....1, 2, even 3 games being called.off due to bad weather, I can understand......4 games postponed already, they played Motherwell on a pitch that was likely substandard at any other time at the weekend, and now this today...this isn't an occasional problem, this is a club struggling to fulfil over 10% of it's fixtures
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't disagree.
My point is simply that it was inevitable and will get worse. As for Motherwell..they're not a good team to quote as they did the exact same thing and had the worst pitch in the league for years.
At the end of the day, they are just picking up scraps and have to make difficult choices. I have some sympathy for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Motherwell are an ideal team to quote because they invested in fixing the pitch to get it up to standard. They might reflect that perhaps they should just have put the money in to players instead and guaranteed top 6, a cup or European football as a result.
They could miss out to Dundee by a point or two for top 6 this season as a result of them spending money on players at the expense of basic maintenance. It will only get worse if that becomes an accepted standard across the league.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I have no sympathy for them, because I'm sure other clubs in the championship will have had the same dilemma, and because they spent money looking after their pitch, that's why they are still in the championship
It will only get worse if the authorities that run the game let it get worse.....Dundee are a top tier side, they are reaping the rewards of what that brings, and they spent money on their squad to get to that position....they should be made to pay the consequences for neglecting their pitch in the top tier also, and it's on the league to enforce that
You've got Man City spending a fortune down south, yet it's Everton and Forest etc that are getting hit with the PSR penalties because they are overspending...sympathy because they don't have the same amount of money at hand doesn't come into...shouldn't be the case with Rangers/Celtic and Dundee or whoever up here either
this game is on sky tonight, people sneer at scottish football and anyone tuning in will see an embarrassing pitch that wouldnt look out of place in the sunday leagues.
its a very poor advert for scottish football all in.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure how it can be said it was inevitable?
Have dundee managed their finances well? Is the guy in charge of the club actually capable of doing a good job?
Judging by his comedy comments after the last Rangers call off I would suggest he is personally under a bit more scrutiny. 'Aye the pitch would have been fine in an hour or two'. Fast forward three weeks and its still an absolute embarassment.
I get the point about Rangers and Celtic but I find it hard to conclude thats the problem here.
There are many football clubs in scotland run by people who have very little clue about what they are doing. They often have some success in a completely unrelated business, like IT in Dave Cormacks case for example, and then decide that qualifies them to run a football club.
And as Dave Cormack has found out, running a football club is nothing like running an IT business. And hes been pretty darn terrible at running a football club to this point.
Dundees situation might just be as much down to poor stewardship as it is anything else.

That’s was me.
Although I do usually have one hand in my pocket.
That’s a shame. The paddling pool could have been a real leveller.
Mental that there is no contingency when absolutely everyone could see this coming given the forecast and state of the pitch
Kind of makes a mockery of the “final” weekend before the split if results make the Dundee v Rangers game meaningless next week.
heard its going to be played at dundee sportcentre, indoors.
wee yellow baw
Should have just played it last week instead of giving Rangers an extra day’s rest.

Indeed. The finances are so poor that nobody with any sense would get involved. So the clubs generally generally get run by idiots. Viscious circle.
i think the best thing to do, the fair thing, would be to give both rangers and dundee a point each and just dingy the game.

rotten when clubs do that.
like, spend money on players instead of paying the little guy.
such as a groundsman.
or a facepainter.

this game is on sky tonight, people sneer at scottish football and anyone tuning in will see an embarrassing pitch that wouldnt look out of place in the sunday leagues.
its a very poor advert for scottish football all in.
a schite pitch, and a bunch of rangers fans in the stands eating 3 pies at once.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
well its partly your fault apparently so deal with it.
Sky can go take a fook to themselves, if they pay sunday league money they cant complain when the get sunday league pitches

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure how it can be said it was inevitable?

Kind of makes a mockery of the “final” weekend before the split if results make the Dundee v Rangers game meaningless next week.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. But let's no pretend this is about Dundee or the league or money or fairness. It's about Rangers being inconvenienced.
I don't recall you complaining about Dundee when their previous matches were cancelled.
If you did then I retract my remarks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As said above, 2-3 matches a season is understandable....4 times it's happened and our game was one of them, it was a shambles at the weekend and it's a shambles today
Not gonna jump down a clubs throat because they've had a cancellation a few games because of bad weather...when it gets to this stage it's beyond that

Indeed. The finances are so poor that nobody with any sense would get involved. So the clubs generally generally get run by idiots. Viscious circle.

i think the best thing to do, the fair thing, would be to give both rangers and dundee a point each and just dingy the game.
