If the pitch isn't playable then it isn't playable.

The clubs outside Celtic and Rangers in this country are playing against a loaded deck and we have to just accept that there will be occasional problems.

The root of the problem is the number of people (me included) who choose to go and watch one of the big two every week instead of watching their local club. That's often rooted in religious bigotry.

After Celtic and Rangers decided that they wanted to keep all their gate money, the slow decline of the rest of the clubs was inevitable.

All that has lead to the schitshow of a league we have now. No point Celtic and Rangers fans complaining about it now.

We caused it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's like saying the rest of the league are to blame for how Rangers spent their money

There are set rules that all clubs playing in these leagues must adhere to....Dundee aren't, and if they don't have the cash to look after their pitch because they have spent it elsewhere...that's on them, no-one else

Of course it's understandable that there will be occasional problems....1, 2, even 3 games being called.off due to bad weather, I can understand......4 games postponed already, they played Motherwell on a pitch that was likely substandard at any other time at the weekend, and now this today...this isn't an occasional problem, this is a club struggling to fulfil over 10% of it's fixtures
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't disagree.

My point is simply that it was inevitable and will get worse. As for Motherwell..they're not a good team to quote as they did the exact same thing and had the worst pitch in the league for years.

At the end of the day, they are just picking up scraps and have to make difficult choices. I have some sympathy for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not sure how it can be said it was inevitable?

Have dundee managed their finances well? Is the guy in charge of the club actually capable of doing a good job?

Judging by his comedy comments after the last Rangers call off I would suggest he is personally under a bit more scrutiny. 'Aye the pitch would have been fine in an hour or two'. Fast forward three weeks and its still an absolute embarassment.

I get the point about Rangers and Celtic but I find it hard to conclude thats the problem here.

There are many football clubs in scotland run by people who have very little clue about what they are doing. They often have some success in a completely unrelated business, like IT in Dave Cormacks case for example, and then decide that qualifies them to run a football club.

And as Dave Cormack has found out, running a football club is nothing like running an IT business. And hes been pretty darn terrible at running a football club to this point.

Dundees situation might just be as much down to poor stewardship as it is anything else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. The finances are so poor that nobody with any sense would get involved. So the clubs generally generally get run by idiots. Viscious circle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And yet some people think it makes sense to spend multi millions to win silverware in Scotland.

nah motherwell and hibs would probably get annoyed at that, they are looking for a top 6 finish.

a point is fair.

i think the best thing to do, the fair thing, would be to give both rangers and dundee a point each and just dingy the game.

can't say fairer than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I like your morals but in the interests of the title race I'd be happy to give them all 3 to make it interesting and keep it going a bit longer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We did our best to gift wrap Celtic all 3 points on sunday but they just didnt seem to want them.

dundee just needed a wee rest to help them with the run in.

i've seen rangers fans on here before demanding games be postponed to allow a proper rest before big matches.

surely you don't begrudge dundee a wee rest?

Love how you've tried to turn this into "just coz this affects Rangers" argument Magnum

The fixtures for the rest of the season could be affected if this game doesn't get played soon....so it's affects the whole league...a league that's already skint and a bit of a laughing stock because of $hite like this

If the pitch was anywhere near playable, I'd have gathered this game went ahead tonight...Dundee are a fcking joke

I know and we even gave them an 8 point head start. At some point you have to question the bottle.

How did football manage back in the 70s and 80s with all the call offs?

Couple of pints at half time as the players would sober up after 45 mins of playing.

The SPFL have confirmed the match will now take place on Wednesday 17 April.

Game to be played on April 17th now

"There is currently an ongoing disciplinary process regarding pitch issues at Dens Park and the latest developments will form part of those enquiries."

Not before time

If it doesn't get played on the 17th, don't see how they can do anything else but forfeit....no-one wants that but Dundee need to be held accountable somehow

posted on 10/4/24

I dont really see what other solution there is if its off next week. The split comes in the following week and there are no more free weeks or weekends.

So I'd expect if they can't get it on for a third time the only option would be to forfeit the game.

TBH, next weeks forecast in Dundee is not great either

posted on 10/4/24

Can't see any game being forfeited, would set a terrible precedent. Most likely an alternative venue

the problem is though I think 17th is latest date that the game can be scheduled due to the the split

The Glasgow City Council area had the highest rate of drug misuse deaths over a five-year period (44.4 per 100,000) closely followed by Dundee City (43.1).

Think it would be a good precedent to set....if you are going to get up to your eyes in debt chasing top tier football, and then sack your ground staff coz you cannie afford them, meaning your pitch is constantly unplayable, ye deserve all you get
