Good interesting take on things Desi. I suspect a fair few Derby fans were expecting a one or two signings by now but like you, Im not worried. Players are still on holiday and I suspect that things will start to happen next week.

I hope the rumours are true about a likely windfall from the Kellyman sale by Villa to Chelsea, which may help shape the squad this summer but at the same time, that could lead to others wanting to pull our pants down on loan fees etc.

Hello all. It will be an interesting season with us having to effectively recruit half of the first team before mid-August.

I can't see PW drawing in any stellar signings for us but I am hopeful that our recruitment team have some half decent signings for us in next few weeks.

The rumour mill is signalling to Ben Osborne and, given the players had a beer in his bar after we got promoted, I can see this one happening. UTR

Sale agreed for Osborn, having his medical.

Googlies and bouncers

I forgot to mention our appointment of Ed Smith and Mo Bobat as the new joint Heads of Sporting Intelligence as part of Derby's quest for “quality decision-making” and “long-term thinking”. An unusual appointment recruiting from an entirely different sport (Cricket) but I'll wait and see if this proves successful. This has similarities to Southampton appointing someone from rugby with no experience of football. Considering Smith role as National Selector and Bobat as Performance Director it is a slightly strange call. I'm imagining our keeper to be throwing some unusual balls out to our players next season.

Derby kit

It's out today and it's proving...well like all previous Derby kits a questionable decision with those that hate it and those that love it.

Sounds like an amalgam of Coronation St characters 🤔

I don't know why I go on to twitter as it's just full of incredibly toxic fans!

Jerry Yates is yet to play for Derby County but has been slated - why? Because he's not a recognised name. Its not surprising that PW will look at contacts from his previous club which appears to be the major issue with Yates. He once played for Rotterham.

Personally happy to give him an opportunity, I don't see him as our out and out no.9 but more likely a back up choice.

In other news we're linked to a dutch player called Kenzo Goudmijn - dutch u21, who plays in midfield. Kenzo plays for....wait for it.......Excelsior Rotterdam....so I expect this rumour to be very likely!

I have seen quite a lot of Yates in a Blackpool shirt and was very impressed. The fact that he has also played for PW before is no surprise. Many managers sign players they know well from previous managerships and given Warne insists on knowing the character of a proposed signing there's nowt wrong with going for someone he knows provided other required criteria are met.

Feeder club for Rotherham ?

Kayden Jackson from Ang's favourite east Anglian side Ipswich Town is apparently joining Derby on a free transfer.

A right sided winger or centre forward he managed 33 games last season scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists.

Wonder if this puts to bed the links with Oxford's Murphy and Dembele (Blackpool, on loan) ?

Murphy has signed for Portsmouth.

Ben Osborn has signed

Bens dad was a life long Derby fan and he sadly recently passed away, so an emotional move for Ben who is a really good guy. He gave us some great moments at a time when it was all a bit depressing, wish him all the best!

As for his best position, I always liked him best in the number 8 role

Why Adams ? Why not Cash, been groomed for it for years ?
Osborn, MF hopefully, with Sibs at LWB

Possibly Ang - personally I consider a 22 year old with two full league campaigns behind them still a tad raw to be captain of experienced pros.

Osborn may not be blessed with the ability of Knight or Bird but given his time with us in his youth, his connections to the club and city he certainly brings something very important in terms of ' the fabric of the club.'

Sibley would be another as an Academy player who holds the club dearly. I wonder if Osborn's signing could sway Sibley to stay?

Interesting day, certainly productive. With Jackson's imminent arrival is that pushing Wilson and Ward into a RWB role?

Hi Desi. Where's the source for Jackson joining?

posted on 28/6/24

It's gained a lot of momentum on twitter and the online news feeds. Originally posted in the East Anglian Daily Times and then several others. With so many reporting his imminent arrival I'd say we'll have confirmation on Monday.

posted on 28/6/24

Thanks Desi. I see his contract expires June 30 so Monday appears likely.
