Sibs gone then
Hope the title of this thread doesnt turn out to be prophetic, Desi

If his salary rumoured to be between 8k -12k per week allows us to get someone like Dembele in for example I'm sure we'd consider that.
Hasn't managed to convince in the no.10 role not sure he'll be as good at LWB at this level.
Saif it before, sometimes a player needs a change, I expect him to be at a mid table Championship club by the end of the month and show his quality.
Surprised Collins has signed, Yates signing gave me the impression that Collins would be going.
I would have been content for Sisley to stay but in reality he has never established himself. I thought he did very well as a stand-in at left back but he doesn’t have the physical presence necessary to make that his career position. There were a number of times when he was given a chance in what you might think would be his ideal position, as a number ten, but I never thought he seized the opportunity, even against weaker opposition in Pizza cup games and the like. I wish him well but would be surprised if he made it at Championship level as a regular starter.
Ditto Vidal. Another one that just didn’t quite do it. As with Bird and Knight I wish him well and hope he always gets a good reception if he plays at PP.
So long and thanks for the fish.
I think most of us are a bit underwhelmed by these signings. The CV of some of the players hardly inspires confidence but I will give them a chance. Could be a long season and not because we are in the playoffs.
Eyup Spart.
Was almost beginning to worry about your absence, but just like Bozo Johnson, there's just no keeping you away.
It's very good of Spart to be prepared to give them a chance, I must say, albeit somewhat out of character. I imagine he will give them the full 5 minutes before deciding they aren't up to the mark and after that, no matter what they do, he will declare that he remains unconvinced.
Cant say I'm underwhelmed, we know why we're in this situation so now is the time for players that can make us competitive at this level without over committing ourselves.
in my original post I mentioned I'd like to know what direction and model the club would like to follow. For now I'd assume it'd be similar to a club like Coventry or Luton when they came up. No major names to cause excitement, players that will ensure we finish a good few places above the relegation zone.
NML has been arrested in Magaluf! Sounds as though someone was pestering him and his wife and he took umbrage and confiscated her phone. Now he is accused of theft. File under storm in a teacup etc.

I wonder if he'll be present for the pre-season friendly on the main land?

Oxford are the strong rumour that are supposed to be in for him.

I understand that 'Tag cover-up socks' are available, (well in Liverpool at least).
A little bit more than just nicking the phone, allegedly.

Sibley joins Oxford United.
Slightly surprising to see him drop down a division again considering his fellow Academy colleagues Bird and Knight joined a Championship side. A reflection of just not quite good enough that no Championship club was interested? Or that perhaps Oxford offered him the best financial package out of all the teams interested?
I wish him well, glimpses of his best football in his favoured role were when he played against London based clubs. Now that he's closer to London will it somehow unlock that potential that's clearly there to see just not delivered on a consistent basis?
A curious talent if it only comes to the fore against teams from near London. What next, only playing well against teams whose name begins with a letter from the first half of the alphabet?
Desi, Sibbo hasn't 'drop(ped) down a division', like us, Oxford were promoted.

Although Sibs has been known to perform better against clubs in the south I do hope it was clear that last comment was slightly tongue n cheek.
Pretty sure Anya would fall in that bracket. Only plays well against Championship clubs beginning with 'I'.
Cheers Scouse - totally forget they came up in the play offs!
I'm not sure what the evidence is for Sibley being "known" to perform better against teams from one particular part of the country. What would be the explanation for that? Surely it is more to do with inconsistency rather than any regional bias on his part
I remember it being mentioned on RD that he does well against London clubs, believe it was mentioned on here too. His performance against Millwall with the hat-trick obviously the most notable one, a quick check and other clubs include Brentford , Leyton Orient, Stevenage, Oxford (not strictly London but not far), U23s Arsenal and West Ham.
Yeah he likes scoring against Southern based teams more!

Anya could have never plays for teams starting with the letter D.
Have to say very impressed there's been no political posts today. Expected a few references to Maggie.
One for today, won’t be taking holidays in Skegness, Yarmouth or Clacton. Had Hitler known the political preferences there he would probably have invaded.
