Wow, comments in twice!
There was a lad played first half who was new to me. I know nothing about him but he did well in midfield.

That was him Desi! Where has he sprung from?
Ah Chicago and I thought you were one of the few that read my posts 😉.
He's from Southampton's U21s. Just done a quick search, have a look at the following link:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dcfc.co.uk/amp/news/2024/07/academy-news-quartet-join-up-with-rams-under-21s
I suspect our Academy Manager Matt Hale may have played a part in this as he was Southampton's Academy manager so would cast a net on those on the fringes or released.
Speaking of players released, reading the article above disappointed to read Fapetu has rejected a contract offer and chosen to leave the club. I had him earmarked as a player possibly to breakthrough from the Academy.
Depends how I feel when I wake up Desi!
Thanks for the link - so good to know our Academy is being replenished but sorry about Fapetu. I agree that he looked a real prospect.
All our new guys looked good last night but the opposition, with all due respect, was pretty lightweight to say the least. It will be good to see how the Dutch lad copes with a few bruising tackles.
New season will herald the return of the identity the player quiz. The turn over in players over the past couple of seasons has been almost at current Prime Minister level. Hopefully we can start to retain players from one season to the next. I always think it helps in a team game to know who your team mates are.

Hope he has broad shoulders so they can put his name on his shirt.
He's arrived....

The signing of Adams gives me hope we won’t drop back down this coming season. Our defence looked a lot more effective when he was playing. The defensive midfielder seems to be a key position in modern football, allowing defences to overcome the press and supporting the defenders in the event of quick counter attacks.
Fantastic news! A born leader, loves to protect his defence and enjoys getting stuck in. The type of player we embrace at Derby.
Paul Warne has indicated at 10 more signings to improve the quality of the squad. I expect that to be 5 more permanent signings and the rest on loan once the PL sides announce their squads.
Expect one of not two GKs to be coming in of weeks can finalise a deal with the rumoured targets.
Evening all,
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the sunshine in the UK, Espana and TrunpLand.
Latest on transfer news via Friday's RD is that we've signed a midfielder with PW confirming will sign or has signed ( I'm guessing subject to t&cs)
Rumour is it's Crystal Palace's David Ozoh on loan, beating Luton and Plymouth to his signing. A strong defensive midfielder capable of playing as a defender too. Previously an U18 England international the 19 year old's possibly loan to us would be his first taste of professional football so difficult to know much more about his potential.
Hope so, Desi, got to be decent if he's from Palace's academy.
Thought I read he'd made some subs appearances when Woy was manager ?
The recent sale of Bogle from Sheff Utd to Leeds opened up the question of whether Derby County had a sell-on clause on the right back?
News coming out is we do however due to the nature of the duel transfer Bogle/Lowe and the fee for which Bogle was sold on it's not likely to be much more than 250k. Still not a figure for us poor paupers in the Championship to turn our noses up at!
Derby 'signing-on fee' County - The New Derby Way
Looks like Ozoh has been secured for the season, Desi.
Hoping he will turn out to be as good a loan as Tomori was for us

Fingers crossed Ang.I wasn't aware that he managed several matches in the PL including a blinder vs Man City. Getting lots of positive feedback regarding this signing.
On the note of positivity the news is that we've got a Swedish GK on the way with a 500k bid accepted for Zetterstrom. International GK with just a solitary cap. Here's to a top season in the Champ and becoming 1st choice GK for Sweden.
All encouraging so far. You have to give Clowes great credit for the rebuilding behind the scenes. When he took over there was nothing and it all takes time to get the building blocks in place. Looking forward to Saturday’s game.
Zetterstrom fee around £1.4M according to DET
Quite a jump from the original £500k quoted but £1.4m does seem more realistic for an international player still under contract. Hopefully this deal is concluded tomorrow , there's suggestions he might play for his club's Europa match vs FC Progrès tomorrow. ( Hope not , don't want him cup tied for our Intertoto cup challenge
Chesterfield game not going to plan …
If anyone made the trip to Chesterfield, at least they saw 4 goals ! 😲
Chesterfield looked like a team and one which has played more than us so far. We looked like a team of strangers especially after the large raft of second half changes. Lots to do in terms of organisation and working out the likely starting eleven for the new season but the Dutch lad looked really good, clever and surprisingly strong. Jackson is really quick and probably should have scored two in the first five minutes but defensively all four goals conceded were poor. Far too much space was allowed C down the right side.
Still, no need to worry at this early stage.
Gotta feel for the lad, Rooney injured out in Spain and likely to be out for 4-5 months.
Your first of the season chance for 100. Do the Derby players realise I have to see one of my mates who supports Chesterfield on Friday. Eating humble pie is not high on my preferred foods.
