Sad to read of the demise of French club Bordeaux FC who folded today. This club, the sixth most successful French side, produced household names such as Jean Tigana Zidane, Wiltord, Duggary, Lizazaru, Micoud, Alain Roche among many others. I wish their fans well who must be absolutely devastated to see their club collapse, something we were incredibly close to experiencing.
Unfortunately there's a cut throat side to football which we experienced when all our young, promising Academy players were picked off one by one. It made me think Derby now need to consider looking at clubs facing unfortunate times and see if there's anyone that they can use for the first team or in the Academy.
Bordeaux have a couple of internationals in their side and lots of young players who may very well be championship quality. if anyone on here has PW's number then drop him a text and let him know of Bordeaux's unfortunate plight but that there might be an opportunity in it for us, if we're quick.

Haven’t what?
It was so vague Fin I didn't ask. Felt like a trap.
Not seen anything regarding this transfer but we've signed Morten Spencer ( Norwegian midfielder) on a free transfer after his release from Leeds United.
Got the impression this one is more for the Academy but if he's good enough then great!

PW will already on the phone to Claretland. He gets most of his ideas from football sites.
1-1 HT at Salop. Collins header from a corner. Ozo and Yates lively. Not too slick a performance though.
Again Shrews looked more of a team until later in the second half when Kenzo came on. What a player he looks to be! There were some promising "green shoots" here and there and it's good to have so many options now with two or more players for pretty well all positions. Really interesting questions will be does PW play both Ebou and Ozoh; both Kenzo and Osborne etc? Does he fit in both CBT and NML and where does Jackson play? Lots still to be sorted out.
I thought Vickers, Fozzie, Yates, CBT, Elder plus the above four all did well but Cash looked a bit off it (as he did at Chesterfield). Ward to be fair needs more game time and Wash and Jackson and Thommo did not have much time to impress.
I presume the next two games will give a better idea of a likely future starting eleven and playing style.
Ialso thought Cash was off. Nelson and Fozzy were our best players. The disjointed display made more sense after Warne's interview saying that he has been using this and the Chesterfield game just to get minutes under all of the players' belts.
Ozo caught the eye but he is a bit green so maybe a back-up to Adams initially. Kenzo has great technical quality. I think we need a bit more spark up front.
Yes - we hardly troubled their goalies at all. Crosses into the box are all very well if someone or other gets on the end of them. Having a shot from distance would be a useful change or some neat one-twos in the final third.
Not just the final third but also the pen or goal areas. Actually Yates and CBT twice worked great interchanges in the final third which perhaps should have led to something.
Yates looks sharp and Jackson is quick. I can't see any Championship centre halves losing sleep at the prospect of facing Collins or Washington though. I expect Brown will be loaned out. We need a bit extra at the top of the pitch.
I agree with all that but I imagine we will only be able to get a CF on loan from some Prem team so it will take some time.
Some longer green shoots, mainly before the raft of changes, in which we saw some fine attacking moves with a lovely second goal involving wonderful interplay between NML and Yates (a promising-looking partnership). Ozoh incredibly strong and forceful but for me Kenzo was too deep to influence much.
However the defending again left much to be desired with two goals coming from lack of challenges outside the box and free headers inside it.
Lots of promise but also lots to work on. I'm pretty sure that a settled side will bring about more improvement with scope for changes from the bench when needed.
Barks was super when he came on and could he be the number 10 PW is looking for?
Didn’t see the game but reports of the forward play were encouraging. You would hope that if and when the new keeper signs he will help settle the defence. I always feel we look better with Fozzy in the team but he can’t go on for ever. Warne says he wants a pacey centre back but it still isn’t clear whether he wants a back four or a back three. If the former then presumably it will be Nelson and Cashin. Osborn didn’t start last night so I don’t think it was a genuine first-choice line up but we will see.
Cheers for the rational updates Chicago. FB and other sites just has lots of people with meltdowns and demanding PW's resignation - so good to see a more balanced review.
I thought playiing with 10 men in the second half was due to a sending off but after the raft of subs and CBT's injuries we couldn't put anyone else on. Jackson picked ahead of CBT possibly indicates that the latter is still not considered for first team selection? I wanted to see more of CBT, have a good pre-season unless he's recovering from an injury.
I know Osborn has a knock and is currently being nursed back to fitness. With the midfield trio currently being Adams, dutch dude , Ozoh I'm curious if Osborn will be considered more for the LB role or in midfield?
With Elder still struggling to capture the form he had at Hull it certainly is a position that needs healthy competition.
I would like to see Barks in a more central role this season,I think he'd be more effective (depending on the opposition) with NML, Wilson, Jackson and CBT offering width and pace.
Just read this ion the DET site
Asked for an update and if there was any truth to the claims in Swedish media about Zetterstrom's flight to England, Warne said: "We are no closer unfortunately and it's obviously a position we need to strengthen like a few others.
With the signings already made and apparently still to be made it looks as though PW wants a squad which can give various different options/formations etc. At the moment it's impossible to tell what his preferred line-up/formation will be but provided his players can adapt to different systems easily then it's good to know that we may not be stuck with a rigid style every 90 minutes.
I'm concerned about CBT as he appears to be injury-prone. A pity as I think, if used as a winger he could be outstanding. Also PW's comments about Zetterstrom (presumably) are of concern as they implied that, contrary to various reports, he has not come over for a medical (yet). He certainly looks a fine prospect and his English is excellent.

That’s the problem when clubs speak openly about their players going elsewhere. It makes it easier for other clubs to step in and make better offers. Anything can happen until a player has put pen to paper.
Vs Spaniards:
Derby County Starting XI: Vickers (GK), Nyambe, Nelson, Cashin, Elder, Ozoh, Goudmijn, Osborn, Barkhuizen, Jackson, Mendez-Laing (C).
On The Bench: Luthra (GK), Wilson, Forsyth, Bradley, Collins, Yates, Washington, Thompson, Fornah, Adams, Brown.

My recently increased to 20 quid a month RamsTV subscription does not even include this game 🤦
The green shoots are now very close to a fully grown plant. This was an enjoyable watch with Derby gradually sussing out a very talented, technical side who, we were later to learn, did not like being pressed at the back.
Ozoh and Kenzo again were really impressive although Ozoh was MOM for me. He never looks in danger of losing the ball, made some surging runs and anticipatory tackles and scored our first! Where will Adams (who did not play at all) fit in to all this?
The only disappointments were Elder's occasional sloppy passing and no real chances created from open play but again a settled side may well rectify that. Their goalies had little to do other than pick the ball out of the net but hey, there are different ways of winning a game.
All in all a very encouraging performance as a prelude to Blackburn away.
