Banno's predictions is back! View's match thread to follow soon (hopefully)! The 2024-2025 season is days away from kicking off!!!!
And given the recent nonsense around the country this is great to see along with the support of the majority of Derby fans!

Don't expect any sense out of View for a few days, (he's busy attempting to tip Greece's balance of trade deficit over a cliff).
The will he won’t he nonsense about the Swedish keeper rumbles on. It’s still unclear if he will be joining before the Blackburn game or not. I suppose if he is significantly better than an alternative then we should be patient and rely on Vickers in the interim. That’s why we have a number 2 keeper after all. Hopefully a couple of others in this week too.
I wish we had kept Wildsmith, he was a decent keeper and after sitting on an Owls bench for 10 many years you would think he would have wanted to stay here, not on WBA's bench.
The GK 'saga' is that the Swedish club wants to hold onto him to complete the qualifying legs for Europa which is until Aug 28th. From what I've read that's a total of 3 Champ games missed. It was also implied part of the reason why the deal for an International GK was low was due to this arrangement.
Based on PW's recent reactions I'm not sure about the above. If we end up signing the Danish GK from Leicester I'd imagine that would imply the deal for the Swedish GK is dead.
I know we can't compete with Vickers in goal and the lad from Cardiff had an absolute stinker in the friendly but remains with us.

But he didn't want to stay though ...
If he has been playing since the start of their season then joins us, he might be knockered by January
Jack Thompson, potentially our future No 1, on loan at Kettering too.
Same old loan conundrum, which may well apply to Dajaune B shortly

He wanted to leave because PW messed him about last season by dropping him and playing Vickers, who anyone could see was not as good.
I think we'll end up with Iverson, he did play for Rotherham you know.
Hard to know whether Warne messed Wildsmith around or the converse. There was a schism, presumably over a new contract. It seemed that they agreed to patch it up towards the end of the season for the greater good, on the understanding that Wildsmith would then be allowed to leave. That’s a guess on my part but I would say credit to both of them if it’s true.
Warne has often said that even though it is inevitable that a squad will dissolve to some extent after a successful season it shouldn’t diminish the glory of the achievement which will be a memory always to be cherished. We will always have Paris etc. A wise way of looking at it to me.
I've said it before, but I honestly think Wildsmith has cut off his nose to spite his face.
"Pride comes before a fall" (and all that bollox).
I tend to agree Vidal. I have no axe to grind with Wildsmith. He was excellent for us and continued to be once re-instated, bar a couple of questionable kicks here and there.
His nose and face might ultimately be separated but he leaves with much credit in the bank, best wishes and thanks for all the fish etc. from me.
I have a feeling that our goalkeeping situation will be significantly improved soon and then we'll be saying "well done PW for dumping Wildsmith".
I'll let you know if you are right in a few weeks Fin! That is if Spart doesn't beat me to it.
