Wouldnt surprise me. His tenure will ultimately be judged by results.

Nobody will care that we played the whole of last season with multiple key injuries or that this season he hasnt been backed in the way he was clearly lead to believe he would be.

Its insanity to think that we can get through any European qualifying tie with Dessers as our only fit striker and Scott Wright on the wing.

If by some miracle we can shift 3 or 4 players in the next week and get 2 or 3 first team ready boys in immediately then we may have a chance of scraping through the first qualifier.

We would then need to repeat the exact same trick to have an outside chance of fluking CL qualification.

But as it stands we have nowhere near enough in the squad.

You can put this down to the whole “stop the 10” crusade.

Rangers had between 6 and 10 first team players missing for every single game last season.

For the entire second half of the season Dessers (our second choice, arguably third choice striker) was our only fit and available Centre forward.

We had no left winger after Cortez (who was beginning to look like a real difference maker) ripped his hammy six games in and we had to play Fabio the Duffer as a left winger.

But aye you had a few key players out over the course of the season and sometimes three of them at once!?

Not even close.

The reason I went on about this so much last season was because I knew the selective memories would kick in once the title was done and dusted.

I think one of the OF games I listed 10 or 11 players not available to us.

Sure thats true.

But it also means that if Dessers is having a super mare we have no option but to leave him on the pitch. If hes generally in poor form he still has to start.

I am sure we would have still found a way to lose the league anyway - but a fit and firing forward line of Cortez- Danilo-Sima would have given us a much better shot at it.

So basically you say your key players were all out but none of them had actually played enough games to become key players so you were playing your squad

We will sign players but they won’t be bedded in for CL. It is what it is

As one of the top teams in the tournament we can afford to start our preparations late.

A player should be able to come in 4-5 weeks through the season and get dumped right into a champions league match against barcelona with no time to gel.
