This is quite a good article by the BBC's South America football correspondent, shedding light on the Argentinian context, including the prevalence of explicit racism in football, justified as banter, the current president's war on wokery, and a national blind spot around the racist logic that saw the country attempt to 'civilize' itself by importing white European workers so that the proportion of people of African heritage (once as high as a third) dropped dramatically.

Read that earlier. I've read about how they wanted to breed in the "civilised" into the "uncivilised".

Javier Mascherano has come out and said Enzo isn't racist and that this is all to due to cultural misunderstanding.

And the Vice President of Argentina has defended the song and said they will take on anyone that accuses them of racism

exactly, posters may have posted the 'literal definition' but its still all subjective.. doesn't make it correct.

How can the definition of a word be subjective?

Worth noting that he’s apologised profusely, both his club and country are investigating it and his team mates have complained.

There’s not really a discussion to be had.

Exactly

Hence why nobody came in for a discussion, just to continue their role in this repetitive lord of the flies drama.

Argentina is a darling amongst the white supremacists as it’s seen as one of the last bastions of whiteness (for the sake of this they accept Latin Americans as white apparently)

Was this song racist? IMO yes and at best it’s just plain ignorance over malevolence but I’d expect apologies at the very least
