How many were accepted in the UK?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"There were 67,337 asylum applications (relating to 84,425 people) in the UK in the year ending December 2023. A total of 49,862 people were granted protection in the year ending December 2023 as a result of an asylum claim"
Circa 75%
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we have accepted more than Germany in terms of numbers despite having 5 times fewer applications? Apparently the number of asylum seeker applicatiions we accepted last year saw an increase of 247%.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet the number that is typically quoted is not the end result number (such as the circa 75% above). What is quoted is the initial application number of which a lot are rejected for a myriad of reasons including, but not limited to, incorrectly completed applications.

So more like 87% acceptance if half are accepted on appeal?

No I suspect that the 75% number is correct and that number is lower when referencing first time applications
The problem is that most people that don’t want the immigration levels we have don’t want the economic policies required to address the reliance we have on it.
One of our problems IMO is our land mass is way smaller than some of these other countries.
France is more than double the size of the UK, Germany 50% bigger, even Italy is more than 20%. Plus we have a fairly uneven distribution of population densities.
These issues exacerbate the problem of accommodating more people as the ability to provide sufficient housing and infrastructure is massively constrained.
But for me the biggest issue is the tone which the whole immigration issues has been approached. Even phrases like Stop The Boats lacks any sort of compassion and makes it sound like some sort of invasion, generating hostility towards a very vulnerable group who actually form a very small part of immigration overall. It has been the single biggest issue that has disgusted me about the Tory party in recent years

Unskilled Labour gets lowered whilst high skilled labour increases. Generally speaking that is.
I’ve met a handful of doctors over the past 12 months, mostly from India, who are only here to earn better income than “back home” and plan to make enough money in 10 years to go back.
I also spent a week in hospital with meningitis in December and the nurses said very much the same.

Pretty much agree with tthe OP its all about finding the correct balance, immigration has its good and bad. People need to be made to compromise on all sides to find a balance.

Immigrants need to respect the laws of the land they move into as well as be sensitive to its cultures and heritage.

What is the culture and heritage though? Does going to the pub with the lads to watch a game need respecting?
I think immigrants need to respect the culture and heritage only in so far as natives respect their own culture and heritage, instead of just bringing it up to point score.
Immigrants are people and I don't think any special standards of morality or behaviour should be imposed on them just because their immigrants. That's actually xenophobic.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. All men created equal. IMO, there shouldn't be special additional punishments or rewards just because it's an immigrant.

Why you using percentage? UK is hard to reach and so receives less applications for asylum. Nearly all EU countries have absorbed more asylum seekers than UK by far.
But you use percentages to twist the narrative. Lies are your forte.
