Britain is becoming like Zimbabwe, punishing its productive rural population,
working to prevent the heritage population from passing on their property and livelihood to the next generation.
Look at how The Guardian describes it, just as a spiteful envious communist demagogue would:
"Farmers have HOARDED land for too long. Inheritance TAX will bring new life to rural Britain"
https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...-rural-britain
In other words:
"British people have OWNED PROPERTY for too long, how dare they! THEFT will bring new ownership,
so that Blackrock can buy it all, and build more solar farms or insect farms or artificial meat plants or new cities for migrants."
Since when does increasing taxes make life easier?
The next generation will have to sell their farms to pay the tax.
Anyone who buys a farm will not be able to keep it for more than a generation.
So inevitably, sooner or later, the largest corporations will buy most of the disposed farms entering the marketplace.

It demonstrates a total lack of objectivity and an ability to critique his own parties decisions. It's like someone always blaming someone or something else. It just prevents any self reflection and deals only in deflection. Unable to enter a debate without some point scoring reference to what the Tories did.
It's no surprise as Sir K has spent the last 6 months blaming the Tories, but soon they will have to stand on their own 2 feet and take responsibility for the decisions they have made.
Inflation, low growth, unemployment, freezing cold OAPs, record numbers of illegal crossings. These have all been warned of and some of the figures are now beginning to filter through and will be a direct result of decisions taken by this Govt.
I hope they smash it. I hope this country grows and flourishes, but that isn't achieved through public spending alone, so i am highly sceptical as to whether they can deliver and the measures of the last budget did little to allay fears.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not demanding an immediate turn around and am one of the more patient Spurs fans, pleading for time to be given to ANge.
The difference with Govt. if you want to compare to a new manager coming in, is that they have come in, borrow a lot of money, spent an awful lot on kids who may come good in 3,4 5 years, and then harmed the existing squad by selling their best players and have upped ticket prices.
It may come good in time but nothing they have done now will improve results and performances short term. While the long term goal is laudable, you cannot ignore the fans who pay money, want to see results, want to be entertained and who may just walk away if things do not improve.
In the same way, you cannot ignore businesses and the economy as it operates now. It needs help, it needs something to begin growth, growth which was actually starting to come back quite strongly in Q1 and Q2.
To ignore it will damage the economy, damage growth and whatever the future plans are will struggle to be realised if the here and now is not looked after, a bit.
But to actually hit it hard with a tax cash grab is worse than ignoring it.
A budget is a balancing act. It cannot be all take take take, but this one was. So i did not expect a rapid turn around. I also did not expect such economically damaging policies that will worsen a poor situation.
posted 1 day, 13 hours ago
They did balance it, they took from those with the broadest shoulders and left the workers, like they said they would. I know you know but the country is in debt, it was borrowing borrowing, borrowing to pay the day to day running costs, that's an idiotic way to run anything.
Somebody had to take the hit and hitting the PAYE wasn't gonna wash.
There are always winners and losers in budgets, as a smoker, I got hit AGAIN, 75% of tabbacco is tax and they bumped it up further, that's not fair but c'est la vie.

Labour ruled out hitting the broadest of shoulders by not taxing the wealthy. They've hit EVERY business with big NI costs, no matter if you are the local restaurant trying to make ends meet or Amazon.
Its the likes of Amazon and many other big corps who do not pay their fair share of tax, who can suck up such tax hits, who will happily trim and cut back to maintain profits. They're the ones with the broadest shoulders. Not your SMEs, not the hospitality sector, not those local businesses serving their community, employing local people...they've all been hit the same so don't give me this Broadest Shoulders bollox
An NI raise for employers is even more indiscriminate than raising PAYE, and it is an indirect pay cut.
posted 1 day, 13 hours ago
And when i say balance, i mean taking and giving.
Literally nothing in the budget to prompt growth, to maintain the recovery that we had seen in Q1 and Q2.
a few pence off a pint while also handing them increased wage and NI costs.

Changing a country from the previous regime of cowardice and mediocrity isn't gonna happen over 6 months, it's gonna take a few budgets.

And when i say balance, i mean taking and giving.
Literally nothing in the budget to prompt growth, to maintain the recovery that we had seen in Q1 and Q2.
a few pence off a pint while also handing them increased wage and NI costs.

I seriously give up.
Get the country back on its feet after years and years of mismanagement and Brexit and you still dismiss the infrastructure investment and harp on about sweeties for business, honestly mate it's a 12 month budget, calm down.

Ok seeing as you’re stamping your feet like the big baby you are here you go! Oh and he wasn’t the only one to have to attend the racism course!!!
https://www.the-independent.com/news/uk/politics/labour-mp-neil-coyle-racism-expenses-b2466521.html
‘Labour MP Kim Johnson said it was “an outrage for Neil Coyle to charge the taxpayer in his attempt to atone for his racist and abusive behaviour”, adding: “It begs the question – is he committed to learning his lesson?”
And yet Starmer welcomed him back!
Thoughts?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh dear, I'll see your petty claim.and raise you with these;
"Frank Hester, who told colleagues the longstanding Labour MP made you “want to hate all black women” and had said she “should be shot”, donated £5 million in January this year through his firm The Phoenix Partnership. It takes the total donation from Hester in the past year to £15 million..
Or
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/11/michelle-donelan-used-34000-of-taxpayer-funds-to-cover-libel-costs
But tell yourself there's an equivalence there if it makes you feel better that you voted for the party that took £15 MILLION from a racist, £5m of that AFTER he made the comment.
Red the RW sympathiser in the gutter with his racist Tory mates
Proof of all your other claims or are you goimg to use that little brain and realise you don't have a leg to stand on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you keep shouting calm down!
Wow… this is a new low from you! Racism is serious no matter what is said but there’s you dismissing it as ‘petty’!
You keep bleating on though with your Tories did this and Tories did that like the baby you are! 😭
But Labour are the party of change and ethics, with 6 people sat on those benches who’ve made apologies for antisemitism and racism, so you are in no position to cry about 1 Tory donor and then dismiss counter claims as petty!

‘Left the workers’ yeah you’re right they left the workers alone during the but who in the long run is going to suffer? Those workers you talk about!
As for tax on tabacco pardon the pun but you’ve got to suck it lad due to the costs incurred by the NHS for smoking related diseases!
You had a choice and you chose to smoke it’s you’ve only yourself to blame!
