Did the Tory plan involve placing those in need on pension credits they weren't previously receiving whilst taking the benefit away from those who, by their own admittance, use it for a holiday, meal out or pocket money for the grandkids?

Re your second paragraph. You've used world events as an excuse for the Tories but have never mentioned the same ongoing events once re this labour budget.
Re Brexit, no not party political. Your ommitance, up until now, speaks to a lack of acknowledgment of the negative effects of Brexit because it hasn't gone the way those that advocated for it said it would. In also highlighting the rank hypocrisy of those who told farmers and SME's to vote against their interests now being the champions of famers and SME's on this budget. Look up the stats re the rate of workers to pensioners, the declining birth rate (more expensive to have kids/unstable housing/child benefit cap disincentives younger generations) and the burden put on workers to cover the increasing costs. Its harder to go after individual CEO's who use increasingly sophisticated ways to avoid paying their fair share. Off shoring, non Dom's and using specialist lawyers to ensure the avoid not evade their fair share.
Businesses have a public face, PR and reputations to protect, to protect the bottom line. The same business that benefitted from a 19% Corp tax rate, reduced by whom?, for a few years of late. Meanwhile wages haven't risen, workers have been increasingly squeezed by tax increases and businesses 'passing on the costs' of events like Brexit, wars or pandemics.
The same business BTW that benefitted from the furlough scheme during the pandemic. Workers faced a 20% pay reduction for adhering to the law whilst business got 80% of their wages paid.
Seems a bit ungrateful to now see business bleating about having to pay a bit extra for the public services they've still used whilst benefiting from all of the above.

Its been proven time and time again cutting taxes for employees on PAYE filters back in to the economy through spending and taxes, such as VAT, much quicker than tax cuts for businesses, where it filters into the pockets of CEO's, shareholders or disappears abroad.

Indeed. But we are not talking about tax cuts, we're talking about tax increases in the context of delivering growth.
You seem to be promoting tax cuts as a means of boosting the economy, but that hasnt happened and targeting CEO pay hasnt happened either.
While NI increases across the board may hit CEO pay, it is not targeted at CEOs, its all businesses, every employee in every sector that is being hit.
It was the biggest pond Reeves could find to start fishing in and she caught a whopper.
But you know as well as i do, that big business will find these savings through efficiencies and price rises because more often than not a CEOs pay is linked with performance. On an SME level, which is really my area of concern as to where the impact of big taxes rises will land hardest, decisions become that much harder. Bosses/business owners do not have the margin to suck up NI rises by taking home less money themselves, the balance is often fine. The firm I work with estimate a £30-40k hit to their costs, which will be dealt with by raising prices (although this risks losing business) giving lesser pay rises and other cut backs including holding off on a search to fill 2 positions because of affordability and uncertainty as to where the economy and taxation is going. That is the reality at this sort of level, a business employing 30-40 staff. a £30k - £40k hit is massive and cannot be sucked up. So it hits growth. As you say a PAYE tax cut puts money into the economy efficiently, the same goes for wage rises, so by hitting the ability to increase wages, the hit will be felt by the economy.
I think all you see is those big companies and their CEOs on millions getting massive bonuses and characterise "Business" in that way. You are miles off.
I'm down with taxing those sorts to the hilt because you know most will be finding ways to avoid their fair share anyway. No problem steeling from the rich and giving to the poor, but that isnt what this Govt have done, or anywhere near it.
They're sucking up to the wealthy, they're courting big business and investors to invest in this Country. Like i have said repeatedly, is a tough balance and one i think they have got all wrong if they intend to keep this economy growing in the short to medium term, which is essential to fund the needed public services spending.

Left in my mid 20s, still have plenty of family and friends that way, will be home for Christmas and will hopefully retire there because it is still very much home to me. Andrew Bailey has told the FT that “National insurance hike "biggest issue" after budget!
We don’t need an economist to work that one out Andrew!
Increased cost to business, less employees on stagnant salaries and higher costs to customers i.e. inflation.
The Ukraine war has pushed energy prices up with the knock on effect across everything reliant upon energy, businesses have no capacity to absorb anymore especially under the threat of Net Zero which requires significant capital investment!
No doubt our political and economic expert will report in from his Spanish caravilla won’t agree!

Love a bit of confirmation bias
Why has the PM declared an amnesty for illegal migrants here inviting them to register legally and integrate into Spanish society?
How many people migrated to Spain last year? No Googling, I know you don't like it when people use it.
Wait, is a 'caravilla' (not an actual Spanish word btw) a motorhome or a tin hut? You're a fackin mess lad, wipe your rse and your keyboard and get to bed.
What a thick cvnt

Speaking of migration, not only did you vote for the party funded by a racist you voted for the party that spunked £715 million to send more Home Secretaries to Rwanda than migrants
How thick must you be to now be pontificating about the economy, racism and immigration given what you voted for. As if anything you've got to say on the above has any credibility

"Strong demand fuels the Spanish real estate boom
Despite the challenge of higher interest rates, Spain’s housing market remains remarkably resilient. Data from the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) shows a decrease of 18.6% in mortgage loans granted in July 2024 compared to the same month last year. Property transactions also fell by 10.1%. However, Spain’s downturn is less severe than in many other countries, thanks to several key factors:
Growing households: Spanish household numbers are increasing, partly due to immigration.
Economic strength: Spain’s economy is projected to grow by 2.5% in 2024, far outpacing the Eurozone’s expected 0.5% growth.
Improved purchasing power: With wages rising and inflation low, Spanish households are seeing positive real wage growth, boosting their ability to buy property.
Pandemic savings: Many families who saved money during the pandemic are now investing in real estate."
"Resurgence of foreign interest
Foreign interest in Spanish properties, which declined during the pandemic due to travel restrictions, has rebounded strongly. This is especially evident in popular tourist regions like the Balearic and Canary Islands and the Mediterranean coast, where property price increases surpass the national average. The revival of tourism has led many property owners to hold onto their assets for short-term rentals, tightening supply further."
"Supply shortages drive up prices
A key factor in the rising property prices is the mismatch between household growth and housing supply. The construction sector, already slow due to pandemic restrictions, has been further hampered by high interest rates and rising material costs. With no immediate relief in sight from the European Central Bank (ECB) or in building costs, supply shortages are likely to persist."

Are you Devon born or a Londoner that moved there pushing property prices up and displacing a local at the same time?
I only ask because you come across like the latter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Devonshire lad born and bred. Left in my mid 20s, still have plenty of family and friends that way, will be home for Christmas and will hopefully retire there because it is still very much home to me. When i do retire it will be nothing extravagant, a simple modest existence, in a beautiful part of the world where the people and the environment around me are what will matter most, not whatever material possessions I am able to accumulate.

This sums up the hypocrisy of FannyAnnie Dev, he moved to Spain and Immigration is one of the key factors driving up house prices in Spain!

Good for you, its a nice place from.what I've seen of it.
Big problem with second home owners and the AirBnb crowd in that part of the country. Same in a way here in Spain.

Don’t be angry I’m sharing good news regarding your tin hut! You should be quite happy that your carravilla is worth a quid or maybe two more than you paid for it.
