There you go again, trying to equate all politicians as the same.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Ask for specifics to justify these kinds of 'both sides are awful' statements and he has nothing. Well, apart from something about Harris being confused about electric vehicles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Harris claimed unemployment was at it's lowest in history.

CLAIM: “We now have historic low unemployment in America.”

VERDICT: The current rate of unemployment is not at its lowest level in US history and it was lower at one point under Donald Trump.

CLAIM: “In terms of manufacturing… creating almost 800,000 new jobs.”

VERDICT: This claim is somewhat exaggerated. From May to September 2024, the sector lost 44,000 jobs.

As of September 2024, just over 12.9 million people were working in manufacturing - 90,000 more than at the peak under Trump.

CLAIM: ‘Lowest Black unemployment rate in generations’

The Black unemployment rate in August, the most recent month available, was 6.1 percent.

Black unemployment was also low under Trump, which was not “generations” ago. Trump set a record low of 5.3 percent in September 2019 which was later eclipsed by the record low under Biden.
_____________________________________

All politicians lie.

Starmers lied and made excuses, Boris lied and made excuses, Trump and Harris also lie.

Cynical, maybe, but they're all in it for themselves one way or another. Bernie Sanders is the exemption to the rule imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Where did you copy-paste those examples from? I suspect that you didn't rigorously research the original quotes attributed to Harris, check them for context, and then check the factual record via neutral sources. The format is very much that of a piece of partisan political content released on social media.

Let's take a look at some of the detail.

“We now have historic low unemployment in America.” Firstly, where does this quote come from? Secondly, there's a difference between saying 'historic low unemployment' and claiming it is specifically 'lowest in history'. It's true to say that unemployment rates under Biden have been low in historic terms, and also true to point out that the current administration has done a great job of rebuilding the economy, including bringing unemployment down, after Trump's handling of the pandemic (mixed messages; calling it a hoax; suggesting bleach instead of masks; hesitating to lock down when there was an opportunity to contain the spread before vaccines were available; providing sporadic encouragement to anti-vax movements) resulted in a much higher spike in unemployment and much deeper economic pain than had been necessary. So I would not call this decontextualised quote a lie on Harris's part. It's a statement she would be able to defend with recourse to objective facts, even if you could contend that it's talking about that factual material in a particularly positive manner.

Earlier you indicated that you agreed with me that the enumerated flaws of Trump are qualitatively different from the flaws of Harris. Then you went away and found some material that you seem to be using to support your initial claim that both sides are (similarly) flawed. Do you not accept that there is a qualitative difference between the kind of statement that a 'normal' politician makes that maybe puts the desired spin on things but is based in reality and utter, egregious lies? If Harris says the above about the economy, we can have a debate with her about it: challenge her with qualifications and different interpretations of the data. If Vance says Trump saved Obamacare, or Trump claims that the Biden administration is withholding aid to hurricane victims, or that FEMA will make a payment of $750 and then confiscate your land - that's a very different thing. It's abject and knowing dishonesty. It's the opposite of the truth, not something that can be debated. And it's far more corrosive to democracy, because the shamelessness quickly catches on, becomes normalised, is no longer disqualifying, and eventually there is no longer a fair discussion of different ideas based on objective reality.

(And Boris Johnson went somewhat down this path, and differs from Tory politicians who came before him in this respect, ushering in a post-truth world in the UK.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where did you copy-paste those examples from?

And I do agree with most of what you say, however I’m firmly of the belief that most politicians can’t be taken at face value.

Whilst Trumps flaws mag be worse, that doesn’t mean that Harris is a great candidate, as has been said she’s been VP for 4 years, so where is all this change she’s proposing?

Economically I may sit in the centre right, but I totally disagree with the republicans stance on abortion and Trumps dehumanisation of immigrants, I’m not a monster.

Its something we hear all the time, all politicians lie.
News flash, everyone lies sometimes.
The difference is some people lie more than others.
trump is a pathological liar, he lies more than he tells the truth. He lies when he doesn't have to, and so does vance.
To put these two parties on equal footing is astonishing.
trump is the first candidate in fifty years not to do a 60 minutes interview in october before an election.
Why? Because he cant be fact checked.
Who in their right mind would vote for a party that's afraid to be fact checked and doesn't have a party platform. Apart from those billionaire donners and racists.

I still maintain that although not an exact science and it is possible to fake it and pass a polygraph test if all politicians had to undertake to these regularly it might just start to repair the severely fractured trust issues between the electorate and their prospective political candidate they are considering backing and make for great entertainment too if we could all witness these tests being carried out live on tv.

That’s a good poll for Genocide Kamala, if she wins PA as well as NC then I think the election is hers.

Take it from someone living close by, trekking washes and terrain along the border and someone with plenty of Mexican friends here. The border issue is nowhere near the issue people want you to believe, it is a problem mostly pedaled by those living nowhere near the border who have rarely, if ever, left their county, never mind their state.

If the so called illegals are prevented from entering the country who exactly is going to tend all the gardens and clean the pools?

They would be too tired to swim in their pools because they would be slowly starving with no one to pick the crops for the supermarkets. Can't expect white people to do it.

He, was, a draft Dodger.

That big Pharma supress cures for disease to maintain long term profits from medications they manufacture & have under patent

It's big business & it's market is sick people.
Better for them & profits to have more sick people or people who are permanently medicated on something or another. especially medicines they hold the patents for

Private health (including dentistry) operates the same

As soon as your dentists goes from NHS to private they're trying to flog you all sorts of non essential treatments. Often they'll try and plant the seed of insecurity into people to get them to have teeth whitening etc

I know from experience that there are some fairly nefarious individuals heading up pharma companies, and they absolutely do not always have patient's interests at heart.

This particular conspiracy theory however, is entirely illogical and makes no sense whatsoever.

‘Big Pharma’ being one conglomerate with one sole focus to screw everyone over. As with every business there are some who think solely of the 💵 but there are others who contain thousands of employees who work hard to cure diseases.

I think Peks and his sort have an issue with capitalism all the while accusing the people they don’t like of being ‘commies’ which is amusing.

OK, in fairness it depends what Peks meant.

Do they direct funding and attention to areas which are more profitable? Absolutely.

Would their research teams discover a cure for cancer, only for some big execs in suits to come along and tell them to bury it? Absolutely not.

Not sure what Peks meant, but there are a number of people who genuinely seem to believe the latter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

peks, let me remind you:

Your comment was, "I don't agree with RFK Jr on Israel.
But on alot of things, like Ukraine & Pharma he's spot on the money"?

...in response to the comment, "Children’s Health Defence, RFK Jr’s own anti-vaxx non-profit, is most recently claiming that it has discovered “blinking lights” in the blood of people vaccinated with the BioNTech C-19 vaccine."

Your own comment implied that you were specifically endorsing RFK's absolute crackpot theories on the topic.

That's just to help you catch up, because you clearly have trouble keeping up with your own mental diarrhoea.

Once you have clarified that you don't endorse his fruitcake theories, then perhaps you can also ponpoint what it is that RFK says about big pharma that isn't conspiracy-theory related and is substantially different to widely held opinions about the industry.

None of what you said above is in any way specific to RFK, and none of it is any kind of ground-breaking revelation on how pharma operates - indeed, on how it's operated for decades.

So how is it 'bang on the money' -or even praiseworthy- to mention a couple of truths amidst a maelstrom of mentally-deranged theories?

Just fyg, non-government organisations have been campaigning on development and access to essential medicines, against modifications in patent laws favouring big pharma, against big pharma's legal onslaught against countries looking to protect public health, and a long, long list of problems regarding the industry's ultra-capitalist model. As an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campaign_for_Access_to_Essential_Medicines

And this had been happening for decades before the alt-right brought RFK Jr to your social media feeds, so why does it only seem to bother you so much now?

Also, given your complaints regarding private health providers, perhaps you could also tell me why you consistently show your support for political options that are in favour of privatising healthcare provision to the greatest possible degree and consistently oppose the idea of universal healthcare.

Just looking for a little bit of consistency of thought from you. Thanks.
