I find it quite amazing (although probably shouldn't by now) that 'hard work' is even in the discussion. All players should do that IMO.

Of course. Mobility is another issue too. I’m not sure he’d be too keen on Mainoo, for example, sadly.

His midfielders tend to be all about tenacity, energy, fight, usually (although not always) explosive acceleration, moving the ball quickly, getting up and down quickly; rather than a calmer, more languid approach.

If you get a few of the newer players though who aren’t from that previous poor culture of our players, along with the new signings of Ugarte, and then the clear hard workers that should buy in like Bruno and Hoijlund etc then it can be contagious especially if it brings some early good results. It will soon weed out the players that aren’t going to buy in, if the manager is strong enough to deal with them and replace them with youngsters who will.

Yeah

Weeding out the "bad eggs" shouldn’t just mean relegating them to the bench or the squad; there needs to be a complete overhaul through a purge. Fan favourites or not, the focus should be on the club’s greater good over individual goals.

Kinsang - if he's that good a coach you'd hope he could adapt, in the short term at least, to the players he has as well whilst still retaining his core principles.

That's what I am kind of hoping - I think it'll be a bit of give and take. He needs time to settle in, get use to the players, and slowly impose his style whilst recognising what the players are capable of. Hopefully 3 or 4 steps forward and occasionally one step back.

It won't be easy, but hopefully he can do it.

That's why I wouldn't write off any players, and everyone starts with a clean slate (altho, if he get anything out of Antony, give Amorim a contract for life )

But I still believe that this squad of players isn't terrible, and the right coach should be able to get good performances from them.

My dream scenario is in about 3 months time, we will be saying, how come ETH couldn't get them to play like this................

I very much doubt that we have seen the full range of Mainoo's abilities. I really want to see what this lad is capable of, and hopefully Amorim is someone that can bring that out in him. I will be very disappointed if he's not someone that Amorim views as a key player for him.

I hope so, as there's a phenomenal young player with great potential. However, glimpses of magic shouldn’t overshadow the average or below-average displays that generate the hype. Work ethic and concentration are key, especially for a midfielder. Unfortunately, the general malaise within the club has allowed him to develop bad habits, which have become frustratingly clear on match days.

Still only 19, so room for loads of improvement, both in his game and mentally. It seriously felt at one stage like he was carrying the team somewhat, all our hopes were on him. I think he has suffered playing in such a poor team, and has been overplayed also.

For me there is true class there, and I am sure he will develop into a top professional.
