You are missing the point here. If Tottenham gets FREE gifts then every club in the country will not hesitate to ask their quota of FREE gifts from this shamble govt and we all know it's not possible. Then we all know what will happen......

We are not against spending... we are against FREE gifts..

Oooops this should have followed!!

But its okay for West Ham to get a brand new stadium for a fraction of its cost though??

Yes, for the renting purpose and buy it later..

When are you going to pay the 'FREE gifts' back to the Govt.?

Simple question. Who will do the upgrade? OPLC or Newham Council?

=========================

No its not.

Advertising products & services is against the rules, but advertising a petition clearly isn't. You only need to see your article to see that.

No public funding for Tottenham Hotspurs' planned redevelopment

Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport

This petition calls on the Government to prevent any central or local public money being used to support Tottenham Hotspurs' redevelopment of its football ground. Tottenham Hotspurs is a commercial concern which receives many hundreds of £millions each year enabling its owners to purchase players for tens of £millions of pounds and pay them of £millions of pounds. None of this expenditure stays in the community. This is not a company short of money, assets or the ability to raise funds commercially.
Normally when a company wishes to develop land it pays the local council to build the necessary infrastructure. Public money should not be used to support this private company nor special terms be offered.
There are many better uses for public money that does not include a rarely used stadium and associated infrastructure.
Support public spending on health, housing, and education for the community in Tottenham not this needless and blind free gift to a commercial company.
_______________________________________

Not only is this petition a total waste of time it is also factually innacurate.

Development of infrastructure is nearly always a joint project between a Public Sector body & a commercial organisation. The Local Authority makes a judgement decision based on community needs and benefits arising from any venture and acts accordingly.

To say the revenues gained at Tottenham Hotspur FC does not go back into the local community is purely and simply a lie!

Firstly the rates on the ground run into tens of thousands of pounds a yera. Plus Spurs employ a large number of locals both on a permanent and a temporary basis throughout the year.
The local shops make more money on match days than the do the rest of the week, which in turn benefits the residents as more money is circulated through the Borough.

Unlike West Ham who are getting loans from both the OPLC & Newham Council, Spurs are raising the capital for the new stadium through private investors & club income.

Just though a bit of clarification was required.

PS: How many names on petition now? Have you got to 10,000 yest? The answer you are looking for is NO by the way!
