Levy talked first of enlarging White Hart Lane, then building a stadium nearby, then lost the bid to take over the Olympic Stadium site, before returning to the Northumberland Development Project. This promises to build an expanded, 56,000-seat ground on White Hart Lane, and public money is promised to aid local regeneration.

Yet despite all that talk, the tough work necessary to build Tottenham into Champions League regulars, remains just that – talk. There was nothing empty, however, about Redknapp taking Spurs to fourth, fifth and fourth again in the past three seasons. And he did it without breaking Levy's bank, by extracting excellence from his players – until the upset over the England vacancy. His replacement will be hard pressed to do better.

The suspicion remains that sacking the manager was, for Levy, displacement activity, a distraction from working out how to achieve the very thing that would convert Tottenham into bona fide Premier League contenders alongside Arsenal, City, United and Chelsea – to build the stadium Spurs have spent so long talking about.

Well I decided to get into politics after all.

Guess what I found?

Chicken, my good man if you wish to mock this petition for getting a little fewer than 8,000 signatures then best check first that one from the opposite, that is Spurs, point of view didn't get just 250.

Chicken is 8,000 less, the same or a great deal more than 250?

Forget all that, just sign the petition. If you dont sign it & then you have pay for our stadium out of your taxes, you'll never forgive yourself.

I wish I had signed the pro Spurs one, poor soul only 250 signatures.

Alas, that one closed on only 250, so very sorry.

You have to feel a tiny bit sorry for young Chicken, or at least I do.

He is either right about AVB in which case Spurs are in for a torrid season and mid-table, at best, finish.

Or he is wrong and will have been recognised as a fool to the majority of Spurs fans who are backing AVB.

It’s the old lose-lose scenario.
