The invincibles is an achievement that will never happen again or at least not for a long time and one that has to be admired no matter who you support.
I still think that's the best premier league win no matter how many points are scored.
'if United break the points record, it will be better than an Invincible season'
---------------------------------------------
Season Unbeaten > Points Tally, it's not even close
More points is by far a better achievement. You could get 38 draws in a season and get relegated. Would you consider this achievement the same as the ‘invincibles’?
Whilst being unbeaten is fantastic, I would rather Man Utd's number of Premiership wins with no such unique achievements. I expect Chelsea who got 95 pts in 2005 would rather have a few more titles with 85 pts.
Season Unbeaten > Points Tally, it's not even close
What if you were to draw every single game?
Yes of course you could go unbeaten and get relegated but we the league was won that season which showed pure dominance
But they didn't draw every single game so what a ridiculous point
IF you could draw, then that'll still be remarkable, but since the chances of it are lower then the Arsenal invincible season, i'll just repeat what i said earlier:
You’re missing the point.
You could be an ‘invincible’ that ends up relegated.
You get record points? You’re going to be top of the league.
But they didn't draw every single game so what a ridiculous point
it was a point made to a single unrelated point
Got to say that points tally is more impressive for me. Surely at the end of the season, it is about how many points you accumulate. Take two teams going for the title and there is four games to go. A win, two draws and a loss is better than a win and three draws, isn' t it? Similarly, you could theoretically go the whole season undefeated and still go down if you drew every game (well, maybe not this season!).
I suppose it depends on the situation you are in. When Arsenal went the season unbeaten, they won by 11 points. Nearly half of their draws for the whole season came in the last eight games. If they had been under more pressure from the chasing pack, do you think there would have been that many draws? Or do you think they would have been a bit more risky to pick up more points?
Both are incredible achievements, and the Arsenal one is rightly seen as fantastic. However, a league is about the team who wins the most points, not who loses the least.
You justified it by saying 'a shock defeat to blackburn anda thrashing to their rivals'... fair enough,
But on the other side there's also the 8-2 hammering of another huge rival and 12 away wins in one season making up for that.
Either way... I think both achievements are very different and almost equally admirable (unbeatables just shades it - even though you did lose more games in the entire season than United)
No i think you're missing the point.
Could do really conceivable draw every game, even if you tried??
the 8-2 hammering of another huge rival
-------------------------------------------------
We've never at any stage, been a "rival" to United to City this season.
The thing is they both won the league.
United have lost a few games, but have gained more points.
Arsenal gained less points but are the only team to have ever won the PL unbeaten.
The second achievement is greater in my opinion.
All teams should target 114 points.
"All teams should target 114 points."
So if that is the target, why is it a greater achievement to be further away from it...?

treble is a better achievement than both mentioned achievements combined
The unbeaten thing has been done before. The team also won the fa cup. Was a truly remarkable achievement unlike the arsenal team that failed in every other competition.
What hasn't been done in England again is the treble. That was an achievement of note never to be repeated again
That team also didn't lose as many games as the arsenal league invincibles.
Whilst going unbeaten in the league in the season is a magnificent achievement, I would still be happy with winning the league and losing some games.
Liverpool probably had more points when they finished second, than Arsenal did in their unbeaten season.
So this really is a matter for what you as a fan consider a good season.
From a spectaors point of view, watching wins is far more rewarding than watching a lot of draws, which the gooners had in that season.

Can't argue with that but we're talking about league achievements not successes in other competitions.
It's quite an interesting debate.... Personally, I think the invincbles season was amazing and will not be repeated again....
But you could see it like this:
Image it is seasons end and you have 2 games left... 3 points will win you the league and get you the highest points tally ever. Two draws will lose you the league, but you will be invincible.
Easy choice, right?
"Could do really conceivable draw every game, even if you tried?"
Do I think it would ever happen, no.
Could it happen? Theoretically, yes.
Would that be an achievement to be proud of, not really.
Would they be classed as ‘invincible’? Well, yes.
What hasn't been done in England again is the treble. That was an achievement of note never to be repeated again
