Juve could go unbeaten and still not win the league. Just saying.
----------------------------------------------
exactly, AC milan were in front despite Juve been unbeaten.AC milan can still catch them. If you ask a Juventus fan they'd rather be unbeaten and second or the tittle, they'll definitely want to win the title. finishing second makes "the Invincible" non achievement .
One thing I will say, only one team has done it before and that was Preston in the 1880s. It was another 124 years before Arsenal did it.
didn't the league only have about 10 teams when Preston did it?
Fred
Preston North End, they also won the FA cup unlike the bottlers
Pretty sure the unbeaten in the league has been done before.
Off you run now, don't worry about the tail between your legs, the stupid look goes with the rest of you.

Yes but Queen Victoria was still on the throne and we were going through the end of the industrial revolution so it's hardly comparable especially since most football records are post-war only.
United fans are just jealous that for all their success they remain an inferior club to us because they can't go unbeaten.
Apart from the guy above, I think most people had worked out that you need to also win the title!
You don't get a gold EPL trophy for getting the most points, you get one for being unbeaten. Someone obviously think it is a good achievement.
Fred
Did you know that in our treble season we actually lost less games than Arsenal did in the season they went unbeaten in the league?
Pretty impressive IMO.
I would much rather have that on my resume than only winning the league unbeaten but losing in all the cup competitions. In the CL that season they lost quite a few games in fact.
Fred likes to whip himself into a frenzy. Maybe, if he could bother to acquire the skills required to read, write and parse sentences.
The OP talked about unbeaten vs high points tally. And another poster posited a scenario in that one could theoretically go unbeaten and still not win the championship so it is valid in this context.
Vidicschin
We are talking about league achievements so please put your bias to one side and stick to the subject.
You dont get prizes for being unbeaten - it is not the goal of the league. The goal is to win the league.

Are you a bit of a plank?
Did you know that in our treble season we actually lost less games than Arsenal did in the season they went unbeaten in the league?
---------------------------------------
Yes, but you still didn't go unbeaten in the league. So off you go go beat up your pet chiuaua Vidicshin
Just had a thought.
The maximum points United can get this season is 94, correct me if I'm wrong.
Chelsea got 95 in 2005...
You dont get prizes for being unbeaten - it is not the goal of the league. The goal is to win the league.

we did win the league though
going unbeaten just made it even greater
Nobody is saying it isn't a great achievement. Also, did Arsenal actually get a gold Prem trophy? I heard this is a myth.
Anyway, like I said, I think points total is very important as because Milan could prove this. Arsenal didn't have any rival to the title when they went unbeaten, and we're not fighting on 3 fronts like most top sides are now, would have been interesting had all of the latter happened.
I guess I might be offended by this if I knew who Vidicsshin was and what a planl is !!!!!

And yet you still responded, therefore you knew who it was referring to.
Anyone else mention how stupid you are?
So this article is a little redundant really.

Already addressed it above.
However, don't you think it might be easier to do well in the league if you are not involved in any of the cups?
Try and think about this one Fred, it isn't hard. Maybe you should leave your anti United bias out of it.

What's your point Fred?
Getting 95 points is a better achievment than getting 94 surely

You're out of all the cups, but could still conceivably bottle the title this season!

8bit, yes and congratulations.
I am talking about the OP's post. It was titled "unbeaten vs points tally'.
Hence, one could extrapolate that you could go unbeaten and not win the league.
Meanhile, if you amass the highest points total, you win the league.
Ergo, in the context of the title of the article: Higher points tally is demonstrably greater than going a season unbeaten.
Meanwhile
United fans, considering mathematically you cannot break the points tally this season, what is more impressive?
The Arsenal invincibles or Chelsea's winning points tally of 95 points?
Also who cares how many points you get as long as you finish ahead of the rest of the pack?
