How many trophies did the invincibles win that season?
----------------------------------

A very valid point and one that'll remain a regret forever. I'm still gutted that a team of Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira etc, didn't win more trophies and no CL.

For entertainment reasons I prefer to go for higher points than unbeaten.

-------------------------

Imagine the last few games of the season, the excitement of trying to stay unbeaten!!

Here are the results from that season, bit more than half-way down. Plenty of goals!

United are being pushed to the end this season and aren't guaranteed of the title and they are not in any way dominant .

------------------------------------------
Probably the most idiotic comment on here

United have got ahead of the most expensively assembled squad in history, despite having half the squad missing this season.

If it wasn't for that 500m pound squad, United would be sat 18 points clear at the top

Not sure how you can justify this comment.

It's like me saying, if it wasn't for Alex Ferguson, United would have 8 league titles only.

Isn't it funny how the thickest and least eloquent poster on a thread always starts off their entry into a debate with an insult.

A blatant example of the dunning kruger effect.

City have the most expensive squad ever assembled, so it's an achievement on its own to be 5 points clear.

The one where 100 spotty united fans get murdered in a playground in Surrey

It is pretty simple really, would you rather go unbeaten in a league season and finish second or get the record points total and win the league.

We all know the answer.

Although that Arsenal was better than the current Utd side imo, you'd always take points over records (in this senario a title).

posted on 19/4/12

Ask yourselves who has played the better football. Then it becomes clear which is the greater achievement. Man Utd are flat track bullies, it's just they're so good at that they don't need to be anything else.

.....................

Someone more stupid than Fred and WUManiser.

So far this season we have took six points of Arsenal and Spurs, 4 points off Chelsea, not to shabby against the top teams.

Although if you were asking which record would I prefere...I'd say I couldn't care less, as long as you have silverware at the end of it.

This seems to be where Arsenal fans are going wrong these days.

To be fair I can see why Arsenal fans defined the "unbeaten record" so proudly as it was great, truly a brilliant thing to do.

But I think higher points target is better.

Who have I insulted?

I stated an opinion on a post I thought was stupid

I am anything but insulting

Thanks for calling me thick by the way. Amazing you can come to that conclusion by a footie related thread.

There's an insult for ya

"Probably the most idiotic comment on here" -

Not an insult, just an opinion, obviously completely justified as going to stimulate some debate.

The very definition of thick. Note how I've just not bothered continuing with you.

If we applied it to the CL, would it be more impressive losing one game and pretty much beating everyone else? Or not losing but drawing loads of matches?

It's all subjective. That's why it's an interesting debate, and why points total cannot be completely disregarded.

Not sure VC. I prefer the comment in which you ridiculed my typo and then spelt "trebble" like this.

Kinda showed you up for the t|t that you really are.

Actually VC this is the comment of the day:

"Not stupid enough to not be able to spell plank wrong when trying to insult someone. "

If you had enough mental capacity to understand irony you might understand why.

Unlikely as that wasn't an entry into a debate, it was a reaction to an insult. You can't appear to understand that either, but the comment applies to you too, mouthy.

As someone also said above, Porto also managed the seemingly "unbeaten run" so it is not as unique as Arsenal fans like to opine.

...............

Juve are six games from it this season as well.
