There really is no angle for Marseca is there?
Least De Zerbi has a track record for good football. Although it's a hotshot, McKenna does deserve a big job after this Ipswich one/Frank could say the same. Maresca doesn't have the CV, he doesn't deserve it & he's expensive.
If they're wedded to the whole wannabe Pep/Arteta fantasy thing, just hire Fabregas! Does Marseca's one year of management really make that much of a difference?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree. Especially after only just winning the Championship with a PL squad and the highest wage budget in Championship history.
------------------------------------------------------
I just checked it out. That's actually a ridiclous Championship squad, better than Wolves' (which lacked depth).
How were they not champions by March?
I honestly would've preferred to keep Poch if I knew we'd end up deciding between Maresca and Thomas Frank. Extremely underwhelming choices.
Honestly hoping it's all a smokescreen and de Zerbi has been the main target from the get go.
On Maresca -
“He likes pressing, he likes deep build up, building patiently, inverting his full backs, a Chelsea side under him would likely line up in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1”
(@JacobsBen) #CFC
Not to diminish Maresca's achievements but Leicester City had the highest ever Championship wage bill...

Enzo Maresca masterclass, can tell he's been an assistant to Pep
With certain decisions I feel like people are too quick to say ‘this person isn’t as good as we want them to ideally be’ as justification for hastily getting rid.
Even though in reality, you can’t consider that in isolation because what’s equally important is whether or not you can upgrade on them without spending a huge amount.
It’s not worth getting rid of Poch to bring in someone from the Championship. There’s been a few other examples in recent years.
The only manager who you could say has a genuine case for being a proper upgrade is Amorim, who we’re not even interested in.

-------------------------------------------------------
And that's arguable.
The upgrade would be bringing Tuchel back.
I’m guessing the reason we’re not going for McKenna is because he prefers Man Utd.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup. Poch might not be 'the guy ' but potentially sacrificing recent improvements, squad unity/harmony, stability for.. what? Not to mention financial impact.
Not shedding any tears for Poch but def seems a gamble given the names being thrown around, guess we'll see if it pays off.
One thing that doesn’t get mentioned is that Poch wasn’t happy and just maybe there wasn’t an option of keeping him. Maybe his demands WERE unreasonable. Maybe he had his mind set.
It’s obvious Poch didn’t want to stay because he disagreed with the people in charge.
You’re saying his demands were possibly unreasonable, so it’s his fault. That could be true, but there’s a reason no one apart from you tends to give the owners the benefit of the doubt.
If we consider actual known information from the last 2 years, I’m inclined to believe the owners were more likely to be the unreasonable side of that dispute.
Things were looking really positive at the end of the season. Coming of a winning run, finishing top 6, getting into the EL and most of our injured players were returning
Fast forwad 2 weeks later, we sack our manager, we get kicked out of the EL and we're scouting the championship for our next manager. Only at Chelsea.
Napoli from champions to 10th. They've had a Chelsea season.
Calm down CSTP. I was only saying there’s a real possibility. I honestly thought Poch deserved another season but once I found out he was gone was fine with it.
I think both the owners and Poch were being stubborn and that it’s the club that ultimately suffers. Not that an ex spurs cant would care.
I’d like Tuchel back mainly because I liked him. Even if he was declining with us at the end. Also I have no idea about the others. Seems like the boring the name the more people on here don’t rate them <laigh>
I just want a to drink from Tuchel's shoe
Maresca is now slightly odds on to be our next head coach with De Zerbi evens

His demands were most likely as reported which was to bring some experience into the squad and keep Gallagher and Chalobah.
The common denominator here when looking at both Tuchel and now Poch are the owners.
Anyway, what the feck, nothing to be done about this crap.

The issue for me was not how good a manager Poch is but what was best for this group of players going into next season. Clearly it would have been continuity. Maybe RTM is right and Pochh asked for a huge contract extension, but I suspect it is more about players
