Maresca: “I have been lucky to work with some fantastic coaches including Pep Guardiola, Marcello Lippi, Carlo Ancelotti and Manuel Pellegrini” #CFC
“The most important is positional play and strategy. For a coach, it’s important to have the mentality of a chess player: develop a plan, study counter moves, choose the arrangement of the pieces.” (

He will be sacked in January I reckon 😉

Sounds alright to be fair
Anyway time to hype up Maresca. Give us some stats or something to make us look forward to this appointment.
Rather him than Zerbi or Frank

Think he might actually suit this squad. Cucurella will be happy as he'll be able to play his inverted fullback role. Players like Enzo should thrive as well. Gallagher less so but he's probably off anyway.
Enzo Maresca had a pre existing knowledge on Chelsea’s current squad, that impressed Chelsea alongside his obsession with possession and positional play. (

Chelsea are set to sign Enzo Maresca on a “long term project” - final details.
5 year contract being mentioned but nothing confirmed
This is going to be Potter 2.0 - I'd be surprised if he makes it to Christmas before people start calling for him to be sacked.
It's like 1 step forward 5 steps back with this ownership

Anything more than a 2 year contract and we're basically burning money.

I maintain that the manager is almost an irrelevance due to the clowns overseeing our club.
It's why I can't get that wound up about Poch leaving or this underwhelming replacement manager.

This ownership doesn't know what a long term project is.
Things get a bit tough, they'll sack the manager

I tend to find managers hired for 'projects' stay for less time than managers hired to win trophies.

Potter and AVB being good examples of those who were here for 'long term' projects
Five years would be insane and totally unnecessary. For any manager quite frankly.
Wasn't especially impressed with Leicester when we played them tbh. But again, haven't been that impressed with us for most of last season either.
It doesn't really change much for me. We are inhibited and limited by the owners and the transfer strategy - Poch being swapped for Maresca is lipstick on a pig or deckchairs being rearranged on the Titanic.
To compare to another club, at some point we might get lucky like FSG did hiring Klopp but until then this is what it'll be like every season. Chaotic.
It's why I can't get on board with the doom mongering over Poch leaving, the problems pre-exist and post-date his exit.
