There's rumours sparking that Fabregas has been offered assistant managers role
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok that would make me feel better about the appointment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we offer the manager the role and tell him who his assistant is? 🤔

Maresca has to much familiarity with Pep it seems for us to say no 😂 have to hope James/Malo and who ever at left back stay fit, big part of his system

5 minutes in a bar with Pep would be good enough for these clowns

How many people go to a job interview for a job they want and show boredom and a lack of enthusiasm?

Chelsea have concerns over the way De Zerbi left Brighton and the size of the backroom staff he would want to bring with him.

Chelsea view on Maresca is that he's played under Pep, he plays Pep style football.

Chelsea have looked at Maresca and despite no Premier League experience, they have noted Arteta had no Premier League experience and also worked with Pep

Maresca worked under a transfer embargo at Leicester and would have no issues working in Chelsea's transfer structure

I really hope the process was more involved than who's closest to Pep.

Super unenthused by this appointment. Would not be at all surprised if it all goes pear-shaped next season.

If Arteta had the same 1st season he had at Arsenal with us, these owners would have sacked him.

Chelsea also impressed with Thomas Frank, the structure at Brentford is similar to Chelsea and he works well within that. They are also impressed with his character and handling of the media, no negative attention drawn to his name

Feels like the club is run by a bunch of hipsters who want to prove that they know their football better than everyone one else and can create the next Pep lol.

Maresca may well turn out to be a brilliant appointment. He probably suits our squad better than any of the other managers on the list. But the risks are huge, especially with his £10 million release clause.

Someone like Amorim would have made so much more sense to me. Wouldn't be surprised if we turn to Amorim as our first choice if Maresca doesn't work next season.

Yup Arteta was a borderline embarrassment and laughing stock for the first couple of seasons. Obviously he got things right in the end as he was given time.

Just like managers at Chelsea get given time

Ikr he plays completely different football to the possession based football the owners are after. Basically the owners are after a yes man no matter what type of football he plays.

Maresca: “I have been lucky to work with some fantastic coaches including Pep Guardiola, Marcello Lippi, Carlo Ancelotti and Manuel Pellegrini” #CFC

“The most important is positional play and strategy. For a coach, it’s important to have the mentality of a chess player: develop a plan, study counter moves, choose the arrangement of the pieces.” (
