actually, just about anyone can get into United's centremidfield
a 95 year old scholes dies 3 times a match and they paddle shock him back and he's arguably 2 classes ahead of the rest.
Carrick isn't even good enough to start for England and he's first choice.
Having seen Allen in action especially playing with unfamiliar players for team GB I thought he played very well.
Hw has this piece of crap thread got so many replies.
Tell you what Spurs fans why don't you add up everything both clubs have spent since the start of the Prem and then divide it by trophies?
Bye.
Sig was loaned because he fell out with the manager, that is also the reason he was for sale and was fairly cheap.
-----------
No he just fell out of favour with the new manager. He didn't fall out with the manager. You have to wonder why? A mid table team like Hoffenheim, you'd think they want to keep or at least use their "star" midfielder.
I think that tells us what we need to know.
you do realise he was hoffenheim's player of the season before the loan right?
So yes you do kind of have to wonder why he was dropped, and yes a player of the season can probably be classified as a 'star' midfielder.

FatJanMolby,
You need to look at Siggy's valuation. Less than 8m wasn't it? Hoffemheim clearly didn't want to price him out of a move which shows how much they thought of him. Mid table German loaning him out. Even Fulham are holding out for 10m plus for Dempsey. We bought Adam for a similar price. He really isn't that good. Believe what you want but if he was a good player Hoffenheim wouldn't have loaned him out last season. Not good enough for a mid table German team, what makes you think he's good enough do you.
Allen is a much better footballer. It's clear to everyone except Spurs fans.
===================
I've never heard so much rubbish in all my life. Clubs buy & sell players all the time, often better players are bought for less than average ones (Henderson being a prime example? Possibly one the most average midfield players in the league, but one of the most expensive).
And Fulham may be holding out for £10m, but they haven't even received £1m yet, so how is that an example. Liverpool were willing to allow Carroll to go on loan to West Ham, but wouldn't sell for less than £15m (even though they paid £35), so again, absolutely no consistency there.
If Rodgers hadn't have bid for Allen, he wouldnt have even been on any Liverpool fan's radar. You probably dont even know what he does well, or what he needs to improve on.
And has been said, he was hardly an unwanted player because of ability, because he won "Hoffenheim's player of the season". Not that you would have known that though, as you dont seem to know anything about either Allen or Sigi, to be fair.
Any Liverpool fan that says "We didnt want Sig anyway", is either munching too many sour grapes or they think they are still in the school playground. Just man-up, say you would have liked him (maybe as well as Allen) but he chose Spurs. You gain far more respect that way.

Sigh. See above. He payed 38 games in two seasons and most from the bench. He wasn't wanted.
======================
Sigh. As has been said, he fell out with the manager.
36 appearances, 9 goals. Yeah i can see why he didnt fit in too well.
Our loss.
I would have liked him
Buck didn't think he was worth the money Spurs offered so he backed out
Not the end of days.

I would have liked him but at the end of the day he did well when he first came into the league scoring 7 in 8 I think. Then teams researched him, put a man on him and he did not score for 11 games.
I've lost count of how many times players do well at first and then get found out. Saying that he may get more space at Spurs.
However, the caveat is that he made a lowly 13 starts for a team that racked up 43 points and if he was that good he would have made the league squad of the year.
I actually do know a bit about Allen and considering we have Gerrard and Shelvey I think both clubs probably have the player that suits them.
The end.
I've never heard so much rubbish in all my life
------------
I really doubt that Chicken. You're a Spurs who presumably knows other Spurs fans and you lot speak more rubbish that any other fans I know
FatJan
Chicken's lengthy post above is common sense. Most Liverpool fans seem to be convinced that price = quality. I would've thought you'd learned by now.
Why should I lie and say I wanted Sig just to appease you. I didn't particularly want Sig. His history tells me that he an average squad player at best. He's 23 and still been loaned out by teams, Hoffemheim didn't want him. There must be a reason. He was only valued at £7m and yet hardly anyone wanted him.
The price for Henderson and Downing was high because their respective clubs didn't want them to go, hence the high fees to prise them away. Siggy on the either hand was practically told to go by Hoffemheim. How good can he be if a mid table German didnt think he was good enough.
Most Liverpool fans seem to be convinced that price = quality.

You were right FatJan
redrob,
I dont know what your point is. The fact he only started most games on the bench, makes his record even more impressive.
Is it the fact he was sold that makes him a bad buy? If so, then i imagine we can put all non-academy players in this bracket (what do you reckon this equates to, 95% of the Prem? ).
Robbing,
Your theory of players getting found out after one season, does this affect all players (including Liverpool's) or just Sigurdsson (or playesr that knock Liverpool back)?
FatJanMolby,
Your posts seem a bit playground to me. Not only do they not make alot of sense, but they're based on debates i had in the school playground 25-30 years ago.
What next, my Dad's bigger than your Dad?
Lastly, its also funny that your manager clearly wanted Sigi, and i'm assuming you would have supported his decision if he was successful, but now he's joined Spurs, he's all of a sudden "not good enough". As i say, its just pure bias & sour grapes.
Bale's left foot, the value of a player is made up oaky thing. Demand, quality, whether the club is willing to sell, desperation of the buying team, contract length remaining.
Henderson was sold for £16m because he is a talented
young player with plenty of potential. Sunderland didn't need to sell so hiked his price up. Liverpool felt it was a reasonable price to pay.
Siggy on the other hand wasn't wanted by Hoffemheim surely for a reason, he'd been sent out on loan again. It would concern me why a team like Hoffemheim who aren't brimming with talent didn't want him. Only valued at £7m, I didn't see many teams knocking on the door for his signature. Obviously there was the Swansea link, both the club and BR at Liverpool. Other than that it was you lot.
He was signing for Seansea ffs, a newly promoted team from Wales. It was only then that you showed interest. And now you think he some sort of class player.

Dont know about Chicken but that rings true for the rest of the bellends
a spurs fan calling my posts immature.
Mate you've gone down that route because you know I'm right.
You're right we would have supported him, but that doesn't mean we automatically think he's a great footballer, which you Spurs fans seem to think he is.
How many of you actually paid attention to him last season and thought he'd be a good addition to our team. If you say yes, them you're a liar.
Siggy is a bang average footballer, but clearly you lot
overrate him because he joined you.
FatJanMolby
Transfer values are not just based on ability. They are based on lots of things. Age, experience, contract length, whether the player wants to play for the club, whether his face fits, lots of things.
If £8m is a give away, and makes him "not worth it" why did Liverpool part with a similar figure for Adam. Why did Pardew spend £7m on Cisse? Why did Hernandez go for £7.5m. And Carroll £35m.
What is your super logic on this?
Chicken (on a Basketball) ©™ (U1043)
Your insistance on being churlish undermines your credibility. It effects some players qwhilst others adapt. Take Bale for example - he started flying. Teams doubled up. He struggled for a bit. He adapted and is better for it.
It has nothing to do with club rivalry.
I think the post is very fair indeed so feel free to try and find fault with it. Did he not fail to score for 11 games then? Do you think it is fluke that he had a purple patch and then did not score for the rest of the season? Is it actually quite likely that becuase he was scoring so freely that teams would show him more attention?
In truth I think you're guilty of the very same thing you attempt to accuse others of. I don't think you've seen him play much.
Robbing,
My post was consistent. I was asking whether you think this rule only applies to non-Liverpool players, or is it likley that Liverpool's buys will (or have been) found out, which is the reason Henderson, Downing, Carroll etc have all flopped.
It was your theory - not mine, so you tell me.
