Well to me, a player is world class if he performs brilliantly in one league in one country, has a great international tournament, moves to another league in another country and performs brilliant there, has another great international tournament, and then continues to perform brilliantly for his club. Oh guess what! This is exactly what Suarez has done.
So with your logic than Stretty, no player in the PL Is world class as none have performed at their best for3 seasons running?
Fair thing to say. The consistent top performers are mainly playing Spain's top two.
If you want to call every Tom rich ornharry world class cause they have a good season fair enough bit I expect more.
If we were judging it on periods of a season then cisse would be world class after hai run for Newcastle last year

How? This is the first season he's been great for you lot. Other than that he's been slightly above good. Nothing special.
FunRob is a world class toss pot.
"Slightly above good"?
This looks to be his best goalscoring season, sure. But his creativity and general threat has on the whole been top notch since he signed for us.

He's a striker. He's paid to score. He's finally coming good on that. Lets see him sustain it before we bracket him with the best.
Suarez really is world class, i'm a United fan but Suarez is fantastic.
He's a striker. He's paid to score.

Everyone knows there is much more to his game than that. He is not a poacher, his game is more suited to a deep-lying forward. We need to sign a striker who is a natural finisher and more of a poacher, and when we do that we could have a devastating strikeforce.
Could have. Ifs and buts.
Nice one for missing pretty much my entire post.
It's a very difficult term to describe and it's obviously down to interpretation.
My own interpretation is that a player who is World Class could play well with any team in the World.
I really rate Suarez and he is an excellent player now, he'd be even better if there were better players around him in the forward areas.
I'd say he's World Class.
Ok put it like this would I say Suarez is one of the top 5 strikers in the world?
No.
Who would you say is top five, just out of interest?
RVP hasn't been world class for 3 seasons, does that mean he's not world class?
my top 5 would be
falcao
rvp
benzema
ibrahimovic
suarez
Stretty hates Suarez with a passion and can't even pretend.
I would say he is world class, but different people have different opinions as to what that term means.
What I would say though is that just because one player is better at one thing than another does not mean they are the right fit for a club and their way of playing. RVP suits Uniteds playing style more than Suarez, however Suarez is a better fit for Liverpool.
That's why for me there is little point in comparing strikers unless they are very similar in what they offer. For us, I would say Aguero and Tevez both offer similar things to Suarez. Personally, I think they are both better than him as well. Each to their own though, if I was a Liverpool fan, I would love him as a footballer.
Stretty, Giggs' stats owe a lot to his longevity. On a seasonal base, he was often eclipsed by loads of more productive players.
Already said no. Read the thread.
Messi
Ronaldo
Falcao
Gomez
Benzema.
And even then I would suggest there are better strikers out there.
Gomez has a record that puts any striker in the pl to shame.
Van Persie
Falcao
Aguero
Benzema
Rooney (as a No.9 is lethal)
I've probably missed a few out. The likes of Ibrahimovic, Higuain, Tevez, Gomez and Lewandowski are all up there too. I'd say Suarez is at about the level of that group, at the moment. If he has a full season of performing at the level he is now then I would put him right up there with them.
Is Suarez world class - Of course not. However, I haven't got red-tinted glasses on to say if he manages to keep up his form this season and into next season there's no question if he's world-class or not.
He's got all the ability in the world to do it and if he fixes up his attitude, cleans his game a little he'll be in the list of players, teams dread to go up against.
